Source of Fan knots?

I've restored a number of brushes and TGN has been the source of all of the knots - love their stuff and Customer Service. Since I am restoring these for my use, I've used just about every type offered so I can have the range of tools to fit my mood in every morning:

One of the knots purchased and set in a Rubberset 400 was a 24mm Finest Fan, and all I can say is I'M IN LOVE WITH THE FAN! And that has set me off in a search for other grades of badger in a Fan. TGN also offers the 24mm Fan in Super and I will definitely be buying one, but I'd really like to find a 24mm Fan in Silvertip or HMW, too. Whipped Dog doesn't show any Fan knots, ebay returned 3 listings but they were all finished brushes in Best, Shavemac offers 'em but I'm reluctant to spend 3-4X what other vendors typically charge.

I should add that I face lather exclusively, and the Fan is perfectly fit for purpose.

Where else should I be looking for Silvertip and HMW Fan knots?

First off, nice set of brushes! I'm envious!

I put a 21mm TGN finest fan in an Ever-Ready C-40 and love the thing! Great for soaps & face lathering but not so much for bowl lathering as it's a true lather hog and you can't tell if you have a good lather or not because it's all in the brush! I usually whip it up a bit in my scuttle & finish it by face lathering, then set the brush back in my scuttle to keep it warm. Love the spongy feel, soft tips, & strong backbone. They're great knots and a priced very nicely for what you get.

Take another look at TGN. Their web site says that their Super is Silvertip.

I have a Super Silvertip (someone else's, not TGN), and it is a wonderful knot.

The Super treatment is a bleaching / conditioning treatment that makes the tips even softer.

I'll be buying the TGN Super too, Jim, but since I have 3 Rubberset 400s still to be re-knotted, I'm looking for Fans in higher grades as well. Just can't pull the trigger on the Shavemac knots with their prices because it's hard for me to believe they could be 3-4X better than the TGNs (the TGNs are that good!).

Although it is more $ than TGN, Wet Shave Products sells knots. I have a 26mm Superfine and it is superb. Soft tips (softer than TGN Finest) with nice backbone. It's about as dense as a TGN Finest which I like.

I see knots on their website, but no Fan knots - I'm specifically looking for high grade Fans to sweeten the line-up....

Oh the brush porn!!!!!! What a super looking carousel of brushes. I will need to get a knot or two in fan shape to try them out.

No need to put shrink tubing on the arms holding the brushes. I use one as well and they were marking the handles, so I put shrink tubing on them to solve the issue.

2 Fans inbound - a Silvertip Standard and a Super Badger, both 24mm for 2 of the unfinished Rubberset 400s, and both from TGN. Love their Customer Service!

I really like the premium silvertip I set into my EJ handle but plan on using a super for my next brush. Let us know how it is!

The Finest Fan is possibly their best knot. You'll be hard pressed to locate something better, but if you do, we want to know!

+100!

l to r: Silvertip, Super Badger, Finest Fan - bigger, denser, more backbone even with a higher loft.

I really like it too. ks6c explains it pretty well and my experience is similar.

Set my 24mm TGN Finest Fan into a beehive handle Rudy Vey made for me. I set it pretty low with the loft.

Exclusively face lather and this knot just keeps getting better and better every day I use it. It just really keeps surprising me it's that enjoyable to use. Not trying to shake pom poms and be a fanboy, but for the price, it's a tremendous value as it's really hitting the sweet spot in performance.

Here it is next to my PJ1 in Best.

Ever tried Envy knots from the guy on Etsy?

They're expensive but he sells fans and bulbs.

I'd like to try the Envy White but it's pricey. 24mm is $56 shipped.

Like twice the TGN Finest 24mm fan.

I'd like to hear from someone who has one before spending that much.
