Source for SOUPLEX DE Blades

I have purchased SOUPLEX blades from ieshaving.com and scherenprofi.com and both times I've received blades that had a weird substance on them that would not come off.

I created a thread a month or so ago after I received the SOUPLEX blades from shavingie.com and posted some pictures. The following link contains some pictures of the blades with the substance on them.

Has anyone recently ordered SOUPLEX blades from a vendor and had them arrive without any kind of substance on them like this. If so, I'd appreciate it if you could share the source with me.

Thanks.

That's Devils Spit, it is rust, oxidization of the base material. I do not recommend you use them at all, the rust may be in the blade edge causing cuts. Don't worry about Tetanus, that comes from bacteria Clostridium tetani (C. tetani), not rusty metal.

Ya I definitely am not going to use them. I really would just like to find a different source for these blades, but I can not find any other than the 2 that I've listed above.

Just shaved supposedly with the rust infested souplex blades and it was a great shave, an extremely sharp blade and a very audible cutting blade. If I get any skin reactions to this blade I will let you know.

Yes, There was an issue with that specific stock from the vendor listed. They sold them at reduced prices because of this and stated that discoloration would cause no issues.

I had sent an e-mail about it over a month ago and was assured that it was safe to use and not on the thin cutting area of the blade. The new stock of Souplex blades are supposed to be fine now without any issues. I've been using mine with fantastic shaves to boast about!!! I luv Souplex blades and get the closest shaves with the least issues in my EJ DE89 razor (combo made in heaven):wink2:

I placed my first order a little over 2 months ago from www.shaving.ie. The following pics are from that batch.

I placed my second order about a month ago from www.scherenprofi.com. The following pics are from that batch.

I was able to track down a new source and they were nice enough to send me some pics of their Souplex stock. According to the vendor, the stock that they currently have is actually over a year old, but if the photos are any indicator, these blades look brand spanking new. Word is that Souplex does not keep any blades stocked at their factory, so when a vendor puts in an order, they have to wait for the blades to be produced fresh, which typically takes about 2 months time. The vendor that I speak of put in a order w/ Souplex a few weeks ago and will be receiving a fresh shipment of "warm" blades some time in May, but based on the photos that I saw of their 1 year old stock, I see no reason to wait. Fwiw, I was able to find 1 Souplex blade out of the 100 that I received between my two shipments that did not have any of this rust-like substance on the blades edge, and I gotta be honest, it was the finest blade that I've ever used, hands down.

Do you find something special in Souplex blades?

Yes, Very sharp, smooth, long lasting with consistant cutting from blade to blade. I have about 35 blades left at this moment and will wait to order fresh new ones when I get down to about 10 blades.

Souplex blades are stainless blades this is a problem I am having when people are calling it rust, if someone had a microscope and looked at the surface of these blades we could really get to the bottom of this.

Remember, stainLESS is not the same as stainPROOF.
And amongst stainless steels, there are a plethora of alloys, each with different characteristics and levels of corrosion resistance.

** Yay! I got to use "plethora" in a post **
