Result: There's a new horse in the stable and she is quite a beauty! This Toyo arrived yesterday, and I wasted no times introducing it to some fine Japanese rocks! I set the bevel on the 1k Chosera then progressed through the 5k and 10k Choseras. With a nice shiny bevel, it then took a few turns around the block on my Oozuku Suita using a nagura progression (ボタン、天上、コマ and 中山のともなぐら). I finished it with 10 laps on CrOx.

The shave today was simply marvelous! The Toyo took a very smooth edge and it was a ninja blade as it silently assassinated any whisker it found. The lather was equally nice. I don't often use the GFT, but it's lime scent paired perfectly with the citrus of the XXX. I was left with a well hydrated and very smooth face! The piece de resistance today was the scent that Luca Turin calls "one of the ten best masculines of all time." If you can ever get the original vintage version of it, do so!

It's been a great week of shaves, gentlemen, thank you all!

Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 24mm Shavemac D01 Silvertip Badger
Razor: 13/16" Geo. Wostenholm "Original Pipe Razor", Full Hollow Ground, Spike Point (w/ Blue Paua scales)
Edge refresh: 5 (light) laps on CrOx-treated Premium IV Leather
Strop: 0/60 laps (Ambrose Horsehide Clásico strop)
Soapreme: Al's "Almond" Shave Creme + RazoRock Italian Master Barber Ltd Ed Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose, no alcohol)
After Shave/Cologne Splash: Floïd Italian Blue
After Shave Balm: RazoRock AS Wax
Results: A magnificent shave this AM with the Wosty . Hadn't shaved since Wednesday and this blade made absolutely no issue of the rough growth...The prep was a combination of Al's new soap soap/creme and the RazoRock Ltd Ed soap - two top notch products:001_wub:. The lather just exploded out of the scuttle and the pure almond scent was a tantalizing delight to the senses. The glide was nothing short of outstanding as was the cushion, moistness and longevity

Mom picked up some La Toja stuff for me in Spain last week, not finding any shaving soap she bought some La Toja goo on can. At least I had to give it a try. The performance wasn't that bad really, quite good glide and cushion, but I just couldn't stand the industrial, synthetic scent, so after the first pass I whipped up some CF Lime lather instead, I have to say it performed a "tad" better... :001_smile
Got my 10 and 30k Shaptons early this week, 30k Shapton+CroX and 0.25 CBN=Totally awesome.

Wonderful start to this new week, Eelco, pic and shave!:thumbup1:

During the first week of November, with the BLACK & WHITE theme, some of you did "cheat" :)001_cool:) by adding coloured details to the black and white pics. All those photos were stunning! :w00t: Hence, we are running this weekly theme. You simply have to be creative and add "a magic touch" of colour to your two-tones shots! :wink2: Enjoy Gentlemen and have a nice shaving week! :straight:
proxy.php

Thank you, Marco, for a great choice of theme. You've started us off with an incredible shot, my friend. :thumbup1: You know my skills around this sort of thing are very lacking, but it was great fun last night trying to get the first one up and running. And you know what, I easy once you know how!!!!:001_smile

Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 22mm New Forest Silvertip Badger
Razor: 6/8" "Solgen" Real Japanese Hollow Ground, Full Hollow Ground, Truncated French Point/Angled Spike Point
Edge refresh: La Veinette Coticule (with light slurry - Dilucot, ending with 60 laps with lather) + 5 laps on CrOx-treated premium IV Leather
Strop: 3/60 laps (Ambrose Horsehide Clásico strop)
Soapreme: Acca Kappa "1869" Shave Creme + Acca Kappa "1869" Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose, no alcohol)
After Shave/Cologne Splash: Floïd Italian Amber
After Shave Balm: eShave "Almond" ASB
Cologne: Acca Kappa "1869" EdT
Results: The Solgen is not only a beautiful blade (imo), she's got the matching attitude . Having read Amund's post using mineral oil on the Coticule to finish an edge, I modified the approach somewhat and used lather instead. The end result should be the same, i.e., the edge is amazingly sharp and smooth :001_wub:(I never had this good of a result with the Coticule...Thanks Amund
