November 11, 2024 Monday shave

Razor: Yates Precision 921 Medium
Blade: Gillette Perma-Sharp (1)
Soap: Barrister and Mann Le Grand Chypre
Brush: Padadin Tut re-knotted with Muhle STF XL
Bowl: Captain's Choice Heavyweight copper
Aftershave: Aqua Velva Ice Blue

This was a three pass shave (WTG, XTG, ATG) of two days stubble. The Yates 921 is proving to be a great razor. Also used was B&M Le Grand Chypre and the Rudy Vey STF XL brush; truly great. I couldn't ask for a better shave today.

ASRazor shave, Monday, November 11th 2024

Razor : Ever-Ready 1912( England Mfg variant). Mfg 1936-53, (exact date unknown), mild to tame mid range. Used a RIGS shim under modern spline to blade load secure to blade stops better. Well made for the thicker splined blades for that era. Had a close comfortable stellar shave this morning.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(5) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : Yaqi Black Pearl, Very unique cologne scented soap with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Lucky casinos" 26mm timber wolf knot. Very nice luxury face feel.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave :Yaqi Black pearl splash with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : Dial 10 stellar.jpg or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers=:a17: Had a close comfortable stellar shave this morning with my Ever-Ready 1912 variant with a coated gem blade.

Hello friends

The sun is shining again. Today, after weeks of small betrayals, I returned to my beloved, my one and only one, Gillette Silver Blue (1). How wonderful it is to see her again. In this magical moment, I was joined by special partners, MdC Original, Semogue SOC Mistura, Rocca R94 and Ach. Brito Lavanda. What a magnificent start to the week, dear friends!

With us, none other than John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman.

Razor: Schick G8 Injector (c.1953-57)
Blade: Schick , 4th use
Brush: Simpson Trafalgar T2
Soap: Tabac Original
Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman “Virgin Island Bay Rum” Aftershave
Additional Care: T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel

Returning to the Schick G8 today and now i remember why I’ve used it so many times in the past. My first use of the Simpson Trafalgar Synthetic, wow it’s a winner, creating an amazing sheen of Tabac lather for a one pass, as this G8 is very efficient. Just right!

GSB’s are one of my favourite blades! I will revisit these again soon!
Of course, the Mistura is an amazing brush and one of my favourites as well!
Come to think of it so is MdC! We have very similar tastes my friend!

Any idea how that item is supposed to be used for shaving? I am drawing a blank.
Short answer :- No

Long answer :- Two dead blind Antelopes [they may or may not have been rutting at that time]

Still looks like a sock darner to me be it a mini one?

The best guesses are on the board:-
1 you soap you face then rub it round like a brush?
2 you pump it up and down in a bowl to make a soapy frothy thingy stuff?

Thank you very much for the post, dear Paul! It seems that like Churchill, our tastes are simple: we are easily satisfied with the best!

Have a blessed week, dear friend!

Soap: Saponficio Varesino 70th Anniversary Edition
Brush: Simpson Ebony M7 SiLVERTiP
Blades: Bic Platinum vs Wizamet Super Iridium
Razors: Gold Executive 1958 & Fatboy 1961
Post: L’Oréal Power Age
After: Artiscent Oud Adventure.

Both blades were good think I favoured the Bic a bit more, will need to try the Super Iridium for another shave.

A pen maker, making razor blades, next they will tell me they put a man on the moon.

Razor: Yates Precision Stainless Winning
Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum (2nd use, chucked halfway for fresh blade)
Brush: YAQI Robin Tuxedo
Cream: Pure by Gillette
Aftershave Balm: Nivea Sensitive

First shave the other day with this particular blade was rough, today wasn't better, so I switched it for a fresh one halfway through the shave and it was night and day difference. I usually hesitate bad shaves on dud blades because usually it's my technique, but this was definitely a dud blade this time. First time experiencing that with BICs. Good shave in the end though.
