Years ago, bar soap (very drying esp. in winter) or canned gel which was less drying, but still dry. Baby oil worked well, but I got sick of cleaning the slickness off of the shower floor all the time. Then my own unfragranced cakes. I also tried Satin Care which came with the Venus gift set.

I like the Fat Boy better than I thought I would--even with the Feather it was really smooth--and felt safer than my Vision somehow--I'm looking forward to learning this razor. Also picked up a black long handle adjustable Gillette in the same eBay swipe. . .
John, the Orange Sorbet smells like the creamsicles you had when you were a kid. It's not a super strong scent like a lot of Sue's soaps, but I think that's a good call on her part for this one. It's a rather fun soap as it's very different than anything I've tried. Top notch lather as well.
Brian, my initial thoughts are that it's a cologne worth having for the price. My favorite Sandalwood cologne has always been Floris. I have tried Trumpers, Taylors and few others but I always go back to Floris. I have only been wearing it a few hours and I can still smell it. I will have to reserve final judgement until the end of the day.

*Try #2 with the CF Limes. Today, not as good in terms of lubricity. Don't have any idea why. Will try again tomorrow. I also switched back from the FB to the HD and didn't get as good of results. Will go again w/ the HD, but if things stay as they were today then I'll be a FB shaver from here on out.
