High Efficiency Razors June & July 2024
SV Saturday
Semogue Saturdays!

Hello friends

Cloudy but pleasant Saturday. I chose SV Manna di Sicilia a soap that I consider to have a classic, yet modern, Italian barbershop scent. Pairs perfectly with Floïd The Genuine. Continuing with High Efficiency Razors June & July 2024, I used, as is common on Saturdays, Greencult 2.0 IV, this time with a Gillette Nacet (2) and the mighty Pegasus Mistura. A perfect shave!

With us the incredible baritone sax of Serge Chaloff.

Rating: 10

Have a nice Sunday and great shaves!

Pre-shave: cold water splash /YBN Glycerin
Razor: DSC AX Ti (1.55 mm) with DSC Pioneer Ti handle
Blade: Nacet
Brush: Mühle Liscio Black Fibre
Bowl: DSC Bauhinia Travel Bowl
Soap: Smoking Monster - Red Dragon (tallow)
A/S: Mühle - Sandalwood Aftershave Balm
Aftercare: Witchhazel Rose Petal / Aloe Vera Gel
EdP: Hermes - Le Jardin de Monsieur Li (sample)

I'm traveling for the long Dragonboat Festival weekend with my new all- titanium razor, as I don't want to compromise on a good shave. Again the DSC AX Ti didn't disappoint with a BBS shave which was effortless and uneventful.

I haven't used my trusted Liscio brush since it was relegated to travel duty, but I realized today how little backbone this brush has compared to my very dense and large Arno synthetic brush. Of course this is to be expected given that the Liscio is so much smaller and far les dense than the Arno. The difference was just very obvious to me today. Nevertheless, the Mühle brush is excellent in producing lather and in tune with the Smoking Monster tallow soap a true winner.

We keep it fruity today with Smoking Monster tallow soap which has some citrus and tea notes and Hermes' Le Jardin de Monsieur Li with notes of Kumquat, Jasmine, Mint, Green sap and Musk.

Wishing you all a blessed Sunday.

SOTD: 9th June 2024.

A good performance from the Haslinger Schafmilch...My mature skin loves shaving soap. that contains lanolin the slickness and post shave feel it delivers is superb...Wonderful stuff!

SOTD Sunday 9 June

  • Razor Gillette Slim Adjustable (6)
  • Blade Rapira – Swedish Super Steel – Manufactured in Russia
  • Pre-Shave Pears soap
  • Brush Vulfix Pure Badger
  • Cream Proraso – Blue – Aloe & Vitamin E
  • Post Shave Nivea Moisturiser
  • Aftershave Brut
  • Balm Nivea – Sensitive Balm

The Morning Shave.

Another great opportunity to try different blades from a recent PIF.

I enjoyed the Rapira blade, quite sharp, however very comfortable and effortless. No irritation or drag. 0 nicks.

The blade comes double wrapped, a plain wrapper inside the main envelope wrap for each blade.

The Vulfix Pure badger is a classic brush, great soft feel. Plenty of lather from the Proraso Blue with a mild scent.

Aftershave: Natio Balm
EDT: Monotheme Lime

I don't have many fruit of veg themed item, but the closest I can do is lime/lemon. First time using the Proraso White soap, I had the old formulation cream I got years ago, but the scent was ofputting (too strong on the dead flower) so I gave it away. This formulation soap scent is much nicer, I can definitely smell the lime that Proraso mentions. The Monotheme is a fantastic lime scent, and the lemon scent of the Natio fits right in. Fantastic shave too, BBS even with a few shaves on the blade.

My Sunday shave started with Haslinger Sandalwood soap. I have been continuously using the Haslinger soap for the 28th time. Today I switched razors and went the ATT S-1 slant razor. I loaded a fresh Personna Medical Prep blade in the S-1. Today’s brush is the Omega Hi Synthetic. This is one synthetic that although on the small side makes a prodigious amount of lather. The shave was good but not perfect. I got some irritation on the left side of my neck. I believe the irritation was caused by the blade not being seated correctly. Have a wonderful day and week
