Pre: Noxzema face wash
Brush: Yaqi Mountain Lake two-band badger
Razor: Parker Semi-slant
Blade: Astra SP (#2)
Soap: A&E St. Barts
Post: Alum followed by A&E St. Barts followed by Soap Commander Integrity balm

Weird shave tonight. Lots of lather, thin but slick, great scent, no alum feedback, but the AS burned. I might be reacting to something in it--dunno.

The other weird thing is the brush. It easily whips up a lot of lather, feels great on the face, but it eats lather. I mean, you have it loaded in the bowl--just piled high, put it up to your face, and in a few swirls it is gone. It really is like the brush is vacuuming it up. It’s been like that each time I’ve used it, but it wasn’t until tonight that I realized why this brush has bugged me.

And then when I went to post the pic it came in upside down three times.

Weird.

If your lather is thin and really wet, a badger brush tends to soak it up because the hairs are so hygroscopic. Try loading the everloving hell out of the brush. You want it full of pasty soap, enough that you can push a finger into the tips and it leaves a dent. You'll know you're about there when the proto-lather in the tub starts getting thick instead of foamy, and you feel some resistance to the brush swirling on the soap. That's what I do anyway, it tends to work well.

Friday SOTD - A 2 pass smooth BBS!

Pre Shave
- Pink Woolf Oceanic Blue Pre Shave Oil
Brush - Trigodon Tuxedo Knot synthetic shaving brush
Shaving Soap - Edwin Jagger Cooling Menthol Shaving Cream
Razor - Parker Variant
Blade - Gillette Wilkinson Sword on 4th use
Post Shave - Running cold water splash (no alum today)
Aftershave - Davidoff Cool Water aftershave balm

So went old school today & rather than doing 3 passes and touch up reverted to trusted 2 pass and touch up route I used to do for last so many to check if that minimises the weepers and Damn! Got a fantastic BBS with just one weeper in the neckline that too very minor one!

The brush is my favourite one among the collection of brushes I possess! This one creates great lather with all shaving creams irrespective of face or bowl lathering. Did a face lathering today. First pass was WTG and 2nd pass was ATG. The India made Wilkinson Swords are one of the top 3 blades that perform really well on any razor. Dialled a scale of 2.5 for the first passes on the razor and mellowed it down to 1.5 for the 2nd pass.

The result is a fantastic BBS, the kind of shave I aspire to get day after day!

Next shave is due on Sunday. Thank you 🙏🏽

Another CC soap which is truly remarkable! In my humble opinion, underated. Direct load from puck and face lathering with the excellent soft brush produces a beautiful creamy and slick lather. Only thing for me is the less than mild scent.
Shave with razor paired with blade was very enjoyable today. Sharp but ohh so smooth. Very comfortable for 3 passes with result so smooth & close like glass except the usual spots...bbs to dfs. Post and aftershave was excellent too. Bootlegged VIBR very nice...Rating 9.8/10

The Gem Featherweight razor is an excellent mild shaver. Fourth use of the Gem Stainless single Edge blade. La Toja is a good drugstore shave stick. Mild scented, but after spreading what seems like a minor amount on the face, becomes a lather monster with little effort. It generated plenty of lather for a 3-pass shave without the need to return to the stick.

Pre-Shave:

Shower
Neutrogena Face Scrub

Shave:

Razor: Gem Featherweight
Blade: GEM Single Edge
Brush: RazoRock Disruptor
Lather: La Toja

Post-Shave:

cold water splash
Alum Block
TN Dickinson's Witch Hazel Astringent
Pinaud Clubman

Time to take on the day!
