SOTD,

Sir Mike, let me suggest that you load more product, for pre-shave; then rinse.
And load more shave cream, spend some more time lathering.
You'll get to 10/10 in no time!!

Thank you so much sir.

It's funny that you say that because it was only today that I realized the importance of pre shave and of lathering properly. I feel I am getting better at it.

Another great shave. :cornut:

It was much the same as yesterday's shave. The only difference I noticed was a tad more blade feel (which I enjoy anyway), but I suspect that was due to people mentioning it more than anything else.

The importance of pre-shave cannot be overstated. Try exfoliating in the shower with Neutrogena Men Razor Defence Face Scrub. Then do your pre-shave at the sink with Proraso or PAA's the Cube 2.0. It makes a big difference.

Razor - Razorock Mamba 70
Blade - Feather
Brush - Mojo/Richman collab 26mm S2 Innovator
Soap - Sebum Lime
A/S - Sebum Lime serum

Very nice. The soap performed very well, and had a very nice lime scent to it that I thoroughly enjoyed. Not a weak scent either, but just right. The brush had a nice mild scrub for the face lather that I was down for. Nice smooth cutting action from the razor. Very good glide and residual provided by the soap. Don't know if this stuff is really worth the price, but it is good. The serum I'm not sure is for me. It's basically just a mix of oils. Leaves my face with a film that I don't think I care for. But the shave was close, and my face felt fantastic.

SOTD TUESDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 20, 2020

Today’s shave was brushless. I realize it may not be politically correct to say this, but Cremo brushless shave cream is successful for good reasons. It is a very slick formula, truly concentrated, and provides the kind of thin, very slick surface that is ideal for straight shaving. I reapplied it for each of my two (WTG, ATG) mug passes, but could easily have just wet the original shave surface again as the slickness in this cream is remarkably persistent as I discovered later with my dome shave.

I’m very glad I acquired this C-Mon Special straight razor. It really holds an edge and sings as it shaves. Vintage razors sometimes arrive with eccentricities. The tip of the blade on this razor needs to be carefully guided back into the scales, but that’s no issue for me as I routinely close each razor carefully after drying and oiling it. The shave was everything I could have hoped for, and my dome shave hit all the same buttons!

The safety razor I selected for my noggin shave was my favorite shaving Gillette safety razor, the New LC. It is so comfortable and efficient to shave with. I spread the Cremo for my first pass (ATG) pass which was so close that I just needed to wet my troublesome areas at the sides and on the back of the dome for a bit of selective buffing. I discovered that wetting the area recovered all the slickness necessary to complete the shave in very short order. I feel refreshed, velveteen smooth, and clean!

RAZOR: C-Mon Special 11/16 (Mug), Gillette New LC (Dome)
BLADE: Sharp Star
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by Argan Oil
CREAM: Cremo Cooling Shave Cream
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Krampert’s Frostbite AS Splash.

100% agree about Cremo: the stuff just works.

Tuesday night shave

Pre: Ivory in the shower
Soap: Stirling Baker Street
Brush: RazoRock chrome Plissoft
Razor: Gillette N2 1968 Slim, setting 9
Blade: Astra SP (#4)
Post: Alum followed by hyaluronic acid and then Stirling Baker Street aftershave

Last shave on setting 9 tonight and I'm looking forward to dialing it back down to 1 tomorrow. No weepers, but pronounced feedback from the alum under my chin. Tried WTG and XTG tonight, so that may account for it.
