Also, if I'm not mistaken, this particular flavor of Col. Conk's is Glycerin-based. It's the lime flavor.

I've spoken extensively about the stellar performance of Talbot Shaving's v2 base, so in the interest of brevity, I'll try to keep the following musings limited to the exploration of Double Trouble's fragrance.

It was unseasonably warm today, so the Double Trouble tub right out of the mailbox emanated a rather believable motor oil note. Upon loading, however, this note actually becomes complementary and contributes to the leather that is of the worn saddle variety. Lathering reveals even more depth by way of slightly musky but understated floral. This chord is sustained throughout the shave, but it acquires a resinous labdanum-esque edge near the end. I'm so pleased to hear that a paired splash is forthcoming because this fragrance deserves a medium that can more fully display its intricacies.

My choice in a finishing splash came from a conversation with Talbot Shaving artisan, Chad Irish. He admitted it had been quite some time since he'd used Chiseled Face's Midnight Stag, but felt it could be a complementary topper. While it shares some genetics with Double Trouble, Midnight Stag is much more leather-forward and overall less genteel than Double Trouble. It was a nice pairing regardless.

The day Hygge and Double Trouble dropped, life interfered, and I missed the opportunity. Tonight's shave was thus made possible only through the generosity of one Jason Rudman. Thanks, Jason. You're a true gentleman.

Haha — thanks, Matt. Probably the fastest SOTD I’ve ever done. Trotted outside with my little handful of shaving gear and immediately spotted my neighbor eyeing me curiously. Practically tossed the stuff into the middle of some ferny looking plants, snapped two quick pics, and scurried back inside before she could make inquiries. Am guessing you don’t have to deal with such issues in your patch of wooded wonderland.
