Day 19 - Another Day Another Razor

McIntosh Good & Co. Buckeye - A pair of "Bucks"

"This morning I shot six holes in my freezer
I think I've got cabin fever" Boat Drinks - Jimmy Buffett

In the midst of COVID lockdown, my mind went from "Hey I made a letter opener." to "I could rescale my workbench knife and make a razor to match." I don't know how or how long it took me to come to this, but here's the results..

The Buck 112 slim select went from hunter orange to black micarta with purple G10 liner. I also took off the pocket clip. I did my best to replicate the lines for the Buckeye razor scales.

Both use cutlery pins at the pivot and mosiac pins encased in pearlized epoxy elsewhere. I really like using the cutlery pins for the pivot, but I can see why it isn't standard for straight razors. They only work for flat or close to flat material and require a more precision counter sunk hole for the pin head.

Speaking of pairs ..

My goal is to shave one last time with at least 30 of my collection of misfits, rescues, and ugly razors. Then they all go up for sale so I can buy more to fix and customize.

>> All Aventus August <<

Preshave: shower, frigid tap water
Brush: Semogue Owners Club Boar
Soap: Fine ~ Platinum
Razor: Mühle Rocca R89
Blade: vintage Polsilver Stainless (10)
Post shave: frigid tap water, Fine Platinum AS and psb.

Finally, it's All Aventus August! I saved an unused hard puck (aka the vintage 😉 version) of Fine Platinum for its start. The SOC boar whipped up a creamy dense lather without efforts. The scent on Fine's interpretation of the Aventus scent is a bit more on the oakmossy spicy side of the spectrum - as is Montblanc Explorer EdP, so I opted to combine them. A great start...

The vintage Polsilver cut down my 36 hours worth of growth like nobody's business - that is impressive, it was shave no. 10: three passes today, wow, ever so smooth - what a nice pairing with the efficient Mühle Rocca. BBS.

I'd like to quote @bazza1 :
My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine. 😉

Have a nice Sunday, y'all!
Thanks for the shout.
