Day, No Day, I'm on Vacation - Another Day Another Razor

Just posting this from Beaver Creek Colorado. It's a DE from West Coast Shaving. Very heavy, somewhat unique shaped head. I like this even more than a Merkur Futur I gave my daughter. The case is something I quickly stitched together from some scrap leather. It will fit straight razors and safety razors.

It's rare that I use a DE to shave with, but I bought it to keep in my travel kit. I also use it when I'm just in a hurry.

Here's what I learned about razors and TSA. Leaving New Orleans, they checked my carry on, removed the razor, examined it and sent me on my way. Returning, the Denver TSA seemed to want to do the same. Nope. A much more seasoned TSA agent quickly took off the head, removed the blade, and asked where the spare blades were. There weren't any. I don't shave much on vacation. Blade disposed of.

I was very politely told that the blade is still "a blade". It can't be in carry on. In the future, he recommended simply putting the razor in checked bagage, or using a cartridge razor. He also recommended that the razor be disassembled and put in the bin with electronics. Razor returned.

More straight razors once I return.

1st use of this locally made soft soap. The scent is what I like most...herbs? flowers? Just very clean & aromatic scent. The lather was great too...creamy and slick enough. Absolutely enjoyed this soft soap...there's more to come according to the supplier.
This is the razor's 3rd shave on a jnat edge and somehow it felt much better. It was abit more efficient too. 3+1passes for a ccs to sas result and no weepers nor irritation. Enjoyable SR session top-off by some excellent aftershaves.

First use of the Artica SV, added to the rotation. I like the scent a lot, performance excellent with the SR as well.

Also first use with the Simpsons Eagle G3, this needed a lot of work to remove the odours which were very stubborn. The softness/feel of the tips is compared to my Simpsons Chubby 1 in Best, softer than several manchurians as well. Overall I did pretty well with this one.

Ever the experimenter, I tried a hot-and-cold routine this morning,
figuring that warm whiskers on cold skin would be ripe for the reaping.

First, I worked in some CeraVe with hot water to soften my
beard. Just rubbed the bar on dry, then worked in lots
of hot water to the point of forming a thin lather.

Next I rewetted my face with cold water and
lathered up with Stirling Sandalwood.

Then I shaved, keeping my skin cold and my razor warm. To re-lather
for a second pass, I rinsed my face with cold water, then applied the
brush. The second pass was icy slick and left nary a trace of stubble.

Naturally, I stand at fault for changing two variables, but what the hell.
I had a great shave anyway, particularly around my chin and jawline.

Definitely have to try this again to see if the stars still align.
