SOTD "FREE WEEK" April 5th - April 11th, 2021

I do Public Address for the local university baseball team and they are on a 7-game losing streak. So, to do my part to break the streak, I dug out (pun intended) the Chiseled Face Pine Tar soap. Used a synth brush I don't care about and a Wilkinson butterfly razor with Wilkinson blade. Fortunately, I didn't have the Pine Tar AS or they would've kicked me out of the press box. Substituted Ghost Town Barber AS.

I got a great shave and they broke the streak with a 4-0 win.

That’s taking one for the Team alright.... :thumbup1:

Pre: bluebeards revenge preshave oil massage (3 hours before) , proraso green preshave cream
Brush: yaqi 24mm 2band badger
Soap: Wickham soap apricus
Razor: Rockwell 6s R4
Blade: qshave #1
Post: cold water splash, brut as and finish with apricus balm

close and comfortable shave without errors to report.

Another decent shave, however this one wasn’t as close as usual. Decided to try out the q-shave blade.... it was quite smooth, however seems to not be sharp enough. At ATG pass it was tugging a little bit. Decided to throw it out after the shave, since life is too short for such blades :)

happy with close and comfortable shave this time .... it just means I can have another shave sooner :)
I like the Brut bottle. Is it vintage?

Sunday shave

Prep: Noxzema
Soap: Cella
Brush: Vie Long Silvertip
Razor: Fatip Lo Storto, #4
Blade: Durablade Sharp 7 am Plus Super Platinum, #1
Post: alum -> hyaluronic acid -> Mickey Lee Reunion aftershave

Two-passes + neck touch-ups for mostly DFS everywhere with a very small patch of CCS on my lower neck. The Durasharp, as it did with the Parker 24C, definitely improved the open comb experience, but it was still an overall uncomfortable shave with definite feedback.

Sunday SOTD

Prep: warm shower
Soap: Palmolive Shave Stick
Brush: Pure Badger 20mm
Razor: King C Gillette and Gillette Travel Tech
Blade: KCG (1)
Post: cold water rinse, alum, witch hazel, Balm

IMG_20210411_183056__01.jpg

I decided to do a comparison between the KCG and the Travel Tech with a new KCG blade. I started with the Tech on my right and then the KCG on the left. Second pass was the opposite. The Tech was good but not as smooth as the KCG. Might be my technique, but even with using the same handle on both, I found the KCG to be smoother, more efficient, and more enjoyable to use.

I also discovered that my brush has a Grandslam logo on the base. The logo has two elephants facing each other. Has anyone else seen this? (The brush unexpectedly came with a SS shave bowl ordered from Amazon. The item description has since been changed to make it clear the brush is supposed to be included.)
