SOTD "FREE WEEK" April 12th - April 18th, 2021

TUESDAY
13 April, 2021

______

Gel: Elegance Plus "Jupiter"*
Razor: Hone Type 15
Blade: Astra green
Post: GBS Alum Block
Balm: CeraVe Moisturizer
Frag: Armaf "Club de Nuit"
*In a bit of a rush this morning,
so I gelled instead of lathering.
Got a fine shave nonetheless!

Stay healthy, everyone!

Bill

Brush: Parker 24mm silver tip maybe?
Soap: Razorock inauguration
Razor: Gillette 1946-47 Aristocrat
Blade: 1948 Gillette thin
Post: Thayer rose
After: SW Tres Matres
the old thin blade was a bit draggy at first but I put that up to not showering before the shave. ATG 2nd pass was very smooth once the whiskers softened up some.
The combo of inauguration, rose and Tres Matres made for a delightful flower forward spring shave.

SOAP: Boker Tallowate Tobacco
BRUSH: Semogue SOC 2-band finest badger (24/52 mm)
RAZOR: Merkur 34 G (Feather blade)
A/S: Alum, FLOID vigoroso
COMMENT: Elsewhere on Badger&Blade I have reviewed the Boker Tallowate Tobacco soap ( follow link), great soap. The Semogue SOC 2-band is new to my brush collection, nice knot. I have a couple of other, high end 2-bands, but I think Semogue makes really nice brushes in comparison. Semogue are very good at getting knot proportions just right, and handles are ergonomical gems too (for me, those I have anyway), though my favourite handle is not the SOC, but the octagonal type found on for example the Semogues 620 and 730. This is my first SOC ... I like it!

Prep: Noxzema
Soap: Noble Otter Thé Noir et Vanille
Brush: Epsilon horse
Razor: Fatip Lo Storto, #6
Blade: Durablade Sharp 7 am Plus Super Platinum, #3
Post: alum -> hyaluronic acid -> NO Thé Noir et Vanille splash

Two-passes only resulting in mostly DFS with a mix of CCS/SAS across the lower part of my neck. A little less feedback than previous shaves, and far less discomfort. A definite overall improvement by taking it steep tonight.

Tuesday, April 13th

Prep: face wash with charcoal glycerin soap
Brush: RazoRock 400
Soap: Tabac
Razor: Gillette Super Adjustable
Blade: King C Gillette (2)
Post: cold water rinse, alum, witch hazel, Shave Balm Lotion

I decided to do a Tabac Tuesday. The RR400 was excellent match for the Tabac, creating lots of lather. As usual, the KCG blade was sharp and smooth. A very pleasant shave.

Wed 14th SOTD
Soap Arko
Brush Yaqi 26mm Rainbow
Razor Yaqi Slant
Blade American Shave Platinum 4th
Post & Aftershaves Ice Water + Stirling Witchhazel Orange Chill + Hyaluronic + Cella Milano Splash
Very nice lather quality from the soap. Pleasant scent, creamy and slick!
Shave with razor paired with the blade with a shim was just manageable for 2.5 passes without any weepers and mostly ccs result...pheeww, I am glad! Excellent aftershaves though.

When my wife got home and passed me in the hall, she advised me “Damn that’s nice” then pulled me in close, took a big whiff and told me how good I smelled.
