October 20, 2024 Sunday shave

Razor: Lambda Athena
Blade: Gillette Nacet (3)
Soap: Black Ship Siren's Song
Brush: AP Shave Co. 24mm G5A <Canada πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦
Bowl: Captain's Choice Heavyweight copper
Aftershave: Old Spice Original

This was a three pass shave of two days growth. The Athena lived up to it's reputation, it produced a truly great shave, smooth and close.
Shaves like this make me appreciate the gear that make a great shave possible.

SOTD - 20-10-2024.jpg

Tonight was a lucky dip shave using some Chinese stainless thing on the kitchen windowsill apparently with a double open comb head - I think it`s chrome-plated zamac but I don`t mind in the slightest.

The head was purchased separately - no idea about the two manufacturers but together they weren`t expensive.

I`ve never used this razor before so wanted to risk it for a biscuit - it seems to curve and tension the London Bridge blade even without the bottom plate affixed - lovely - that`s right up my street.

Piccies are here to illustrate thus.

I just needed a slight touch-up tonight because the two Chinese ones - the rose gold and beech bargains did a grand job last night.

So... what`s the score - super quick (less than 90 seconds) and BBS super smooth ;no nicks or irritation at all.

Because I`m a caveman, it was no pre-shave, cold water, no mirror, no brush, no towel and no aftershave needed.

Put Aneeq Arabian Golden Dust long-lasting Men`s perfume oil on again because the Dragon is all over me like a rash.

Shaved in the kitchen sink once again listening to American talk radio and thanks to all you chaps, I`m really digging the scrape man !

I used my homemade glycerine rosemary oil soap from the loaf which is lovely because it naturally contains cooling menthol - didn`t need amazing lather ; I never do with bomb-proof skin (literally I was blown-up by a landmine at 17)

So...Job`s a good `un - I get very, very few unsatisfactory shaves out of any razor/blade combo and being a previously engaged blacksmith and bladesmith plus masseur I can wangle the angle in any condition (no comment)

Missed the 15 min edit thing - timed out so to end...
"Tomorrow I`m doing a John and Yoko sit-in shave in the bath with my eyes mostly closed for six or eight hours with just four bottles of South African cheap red plonk wine and John Lee Hooker and Howlin` Wolf blues fifties albums on the windowsill - the girls can take the rough with the smooth and get ready in the pub toilet - I`m a gent but I wear the trousers in my gaff."

Gorgeous razor and kit widecker - I`m getting a Copper Ascension Twist birthday pressie from the Dragon next week - can`t wait till it lands.

It`s a real treat for me because previously I`ve never spent more than Β£25 on a razor in my 45 year shaving life - I don`t think my face is worth it.

Thank You for the Thumbs Up Amchovie666 - The Reason why I landed on this gorgeous site is because I`m a caveman running out of time and simultaneously I`m a gent because life is complicated and women have brought me up with old-fashioned values and I worship them wholeheartedly and unconditionally - but ultimately I wear the trousers in my house - it`s all balance isn`t it ?

Also I`m learning everyday - Thanks to You Guys and I am getting 24/7 attention since I`ve starting grooming really properly and not using Dawn dish wash soap and a 25 cent razor to shave in the kitchen sink and used mega soap and mega fragrances from Asia and Africa etc !
