SOTD "British Aftershaves" Theme Week 7-13 July 2014

Gentlemen,

This week's IOTW is British aftershaves and balms. Normally, this would involve my breaking out my George F. Trumper Coral Skin Food or perhaps some D.R. Harris Windsor aftershave. However, the next couple of weeks finds me on vacation, so I'm making due with what I pulled out of the footlocker at the condo. It provided an excellent shave in any case.

Geo. F. Trumper Coral Skin Food, as a pre-shave.
WD silvertip, old handle.
Utilemud red/lavender bowl.
Rose of Bulgaria cream.
Fatboy 1960, set at 5.
New Kai blade - eh.
3 passes and clean-up.
Cold rinse.
Alum block.
Cold rinse.
D. R. Harris Pink aftershave.
Geo. F. Trumper Coral Skin Food.

Great shave. The Rose of Bulgaria is becoming a favorite; it lingers, pleasantly.

ICED KEY LIME | ISRAELI PERSONNA | DE89L | CORSAIR



The stars aligned for me this morning!!! A rare BBS for me. A Crystal blade (apparently known as an Israeli personna?? is this true?) loaded in my trusty EJDE89L. I made my lather a little richer than I usually do. I added far less water and I think this really helped with it being more protective and it didn't affect the slickness much, if any. The QCS Iced Key Lime and Vostok seem to be my 'go to' soaps when I want a nice refreshing shave, and this shave today has cemented the IKL right at the top of my summer rotation!! If you havent tried the QCS line of soaps I highly recommend them. Great lather and scent...TOP NOTCH!!​

I don't normally use a straight on a work-day but I couldn't help myself. 2-days of stubble fell off with a single pass of the old-boy's straight. One cleanup XTG pass with the Ikon. Lovely.

WTG-XTG-ATG (adjusted angles for my beard)

2[SUP]nd[/SUP] outing with the ASCO. I pulled out the RR San Valentino. The RR Argan Oil Artisan soaps are excellent! Again, the ASCO was not as smooth (read sharp) as my top blades, but it delivered a smooth, close, nick free shave. Still-so far, so good. I finished up with Speick.
