What's new

Sooooo, that just happened

So going back to January, not the one that just past, but the one before that Ole Syn here was in love. Yup me, I actually fooled a woman into thinking that I wasn't only a great catch, but also someone perfect for her (my greatest trick if you ask me) She would look at me in a way that could make me giggle in a way I would never giggle around any guy. we laughed and shared all kinds of great moments, you know those little things that stay with you forever, like when your hands occidentally touch when walking together, then she would grab and hold my hand.... it was amazing

then it wasn't, not because things went bad, or because someone felt they weren't right for the other, but because her father passed away and her mother got sick with cancer in a town far away. She had to go take care of her mum, and that was it, just like that we were apart, and I didn't take it very well... added to that major loss a bunch of other problems piled up on me and well the whole life thing got kind of not fun.... notice the timing of my arrival here, not so much a coincidence, kind of how someone posts 6800 times in a little over a year

So by now you may be asking, what's the deal Syn, what does this have to do with shaving at all,... well, Tuesday night im laying in bed 1 am in the morning my phone goes off, and its flashing a green LED, this for my phone means FB messenger, which I never use, not any more, I only ever did with her

"Guess whose coming home to Toronto"

that's what my phone read, a year and a half later, at 1 am on a Tuesday night, she couldn't wait to tell me.... do you know what that means, means she didnt stop thinking about me either

so yeah the shaving thing,....

I told her Ill get a hair cut and a shave immediately to prepare (Even though shes a few weeks away from home yet) and she says hold on there James (She doesn't call me Syn), I want to see this hippy long hair of yours

and I sent her this

$2013-05-29 12.35.09.jpg

I know im all scruffy, but I was banking growth for an epic shave, and I cant say no to her... well cause she never says no to me. And she not only loves my hair, she loves the scruff.... says I should keep it

But but but razors and brushes and blades and sharp things, they are shiny
and Syn loves shiny... but he loves her too

Ill shave again, but im on a shave sabbatical until I see my beautiful Chantale, we are treating this like a good luck play-off beard thing... Its been a long time since I have had something real to get me smiling, but between things happening here, and that marvellous message (we did talk more after) I'm on a cloud all my own...

I know its kind of dumb

but so is Love

What a wonderful post. Thanks for sharing. I got the chills... That means your post was real. Cheers!

You're a lucky guy, James. Not a dumb story at all!

Hopefully my situation can turn back around like yours.

No jokes here. So you have to know that means your post really got to me. Quite the love story there, James. I hope everything works out for you. She sounds like a great gal. Great shaves come and go, but the right woman is irreplaceable. All us Badgers will be sending good vibes for sure!

Well nothing is set yet, not even sure when I get to see her, or how things will be if we do...

But im enjoying the thought of it for the moment, and letting the good vibes fly

thanks for the well wishes everyone

I'm still trying to process the 6800+ posts in a year. Damn.
year and a half, BOTOC and the NIB have most of them

if you break them all down to quality useful and on point posts really I probably only have 20 or 30 or so

the rest is just banter, thread jacking (Im sorry I try not to do it anymore), and making fun of myself,.... although really those are important
"what not to do " things so I guess 1030 posts

Good luck to you. I wish you the best with her.

I am not sure I will ever regain what I lost after my divorce (that I didn't ask for) four years ago.

No worries mate... its like rocking the veg, you don't know what you'll get putting it on, but the best way to start is with an open mind and positive thoughts

Oddly enough, I don't think ill risk the veg first time out

I know things may not work out, but it is still a nice thought right now and I don't mind swimming in it...
The thought I mean.. swimming in the veg would be a bit much

Good luck brother! The anticipation is killing you I'm sure, but it sounds very possible the it'll all be worth it :)
perhaps she'll find the novelty of a semi-beard to wear off and you can show her how a real man shaves, then she'll have something new to get all worked up about :001_tt1:

Great story. I still feel that about my wife after ten years. Love coming home to her. Absolutely LOVE IT. That's not to say everything has been peachy as the wheels did come off now and then but we worked together at fixing and fine tuning our relationship. I wish you two the best.

Hi James: Wow... that was a great post. Love is a great thing. It will make you do things that you normally don't do (i.e. not shaving). Enjoy the moment, my friend. Kindly keep us posted.
