January 23 and 24 2023​

Razor: Double edged Rockwell 6C Gunmetal #4 plate. Not a bad plate. I think it would give a better shave if I had a different blade on this trip.

Franken Razor: Gillette travel tech head on a Rockwell gunmetal handle. This combo worked, just ok. The balance is off. The tech head is on the lighter side for the handle. But I was able to enjoy a tech shave this way.

Franken Scuttle: 12 ounce beer can Koozie upgrade. I stumbled across this perfectly shaped stainless steel insert. This is a multi functional travel tool. What's not to like? It keeps your beer cold and your lather warm. For more info click here and scroll down to 52.

The Treet started off somewhat sharp & less than ideally smooth, but tolerable. It lost its sharpness by the end of my one pass shave.

Razor double edged Karve Christopher Bradley brass open comb AA plate.

Very mild, good for those sleepy mornings when you may not be so careful with your shave. But, still like the look of aggression in a razor.

Cleaned my cheeks off to turn my beard into a goatee with sideburns. A fairly smooth 3 pass shave gave a DFS++. Feather was gave a little tug, but was most likely bad form with the slant.

Cleaned my cheeks off to turn my beard into a goatee with sideburns. A fairly smooth 3 pass shave gave a DFS++. Feather was gave a little tug, but was most likely bad form with the slant.

Formally known as (Modern) Williams Mug Soap. Applied as if it were a stick. Easy to lather and slick.

There is a difference between the 6c gunmetal and 6s black matte. The 6s has a higher quality fell to it. The 6s matte does have a bit more drag. (Saftey bar on skin) I was not to sure about that at first. But now, I have started to think that this helps stretch the skin just before the cut. This can be adjusted with lather qualit.

I enjoyed the shave. It was a one day growth.




I plan to list this months challenge items on the 31st. I’m using a spreadsheet that allows me to apply a filter so that there are no repeats. The are many different ways to do this. If you would like to know how I’m doing it, let me know.

I like having more to shave, but my cheeks being bare is still a little odd to me.

I’ve been thinking of building a spreadsheet as well. This is more difficult to keep track of than I originally thought it would be.

@one2mny : Last winter I sported a well groomed beard during the cold months. This year I’ve been clean-shaven all the way through. There are times when I miss the warmth of the beard.

I’m using Google sheets. Here is a pre screenshot of it. The items in the title all start with the main commonality of the item. (razor, brush, blade, etc etc.) that way when I think of an thing I can apply the filter to see if it’s listed.

CREMO Shave Stick Classic.

I get it. Marketing. Not a reflection of performance. I got this stick on clearance for $1.50 TJ Max

Original formula.
I don’t care for the scent. To me it has an annoying medicine smell.

Our impossibly slick formula in a versatile, mess-free format.
It is slick. With high residual slickness. Almost took another shower to get rid of it. Not that good of a lather. It could get better if I used it more often. But I don’t like the scent. To be fare, the deodorant style applicator works fine.

Fights nicks, irritation, and razor burn.
It just states fights. Not necessarily how well.

The Centwin Platinum started off very smooth & sharp. I was quite pleased. About 3/4 of the way through my one-pass shave the blade started to dull swiftly & by the end of the shave, it was tugging. Too bad, it started with a lot of promise.

Rockwell barbershop shave cream sample.

Very good product. A little goes a long way. I put too much on my brush before I started face lathering. The performance was good the scent was nice.

I plan to use this sparingly. Maybe I can get 2 more shaves out of it.
