I was watching an auction for a feather ac "dx" teak folding straight. It went for $190. After it ended I went back to look at it and noticed in the pics that it has the chromium coating. Unless I'm mistaken that means it is a rg mode As the dx are solid stainless. when I noticed that I contacted the seller and told them that the razor was listed incorrectly. No response. If you recently bought a teak feather folder on eBay. Check it out and make sure you got the right thing. I hate to see someone get taken.

I just went to check this out and on the first page I saw 4 Fatboy Slims but what really took the cake was a flaretip superspeed "Fatboy". *LOL*

Yes, I haven't looked lately as I have my quota of Fatboys, but I've seen even GEMs labeled as FatBoys, too many Slims to count. Some of the real EBay slime put Fatboy in the title, then claim in the description it might not be, that they don't know about razors, etc. Never buy a Fatboy on the Bay, unless it is mis-labeled as a "shiney Gilette razor", and even then you can only hope
eBay is a scary place to shop. The secret to a pleasant ebay experience it to only buy from people that have a 100% positive feedback rating who also have a return policy that permits full refunds for any reason. I've bought and sold on ebay for over 8 years and I can honestly say that anyone with a 100% positive record will work hard to keep it. Nevertheless, as a Newbie to B&B, I see that the prices here are better and I would feel a lot safer buying from a fellow member.

well let think about this for a minute-------- people are not selling because they want to keep it, most chance there be something wrong, that why i asks for more pictures

Are sellers allowed to make returns conditional? I've seen this written multiple times but I wonder if Paypal would side with the buyer if they wanted to return anyways but didn't meet the conditional requirements.
The skeevy sellers use blurry photos or they brighten them up with Photoshop to make the razors look nice and shiny. The Photoshopped razors look shiney but, the backgrounds become noticeably off color in the process. Bad sellers use vague descriptions and act like they don't know what they are selling to throw you off. The good sellers will include 10 or 12 sharp, high res photos of their razors from all angles and they want you to come back and buy from them again.
The first part is true; the second part is quite the leap.

+1 and in this particular case it was just blatantly mislabeled as a more expensive product.
I've bought and sold over 140 items on ebay. There are safe sellers who accept returns. Look for sellers with 100% positive feedback, lots of prior sales, sharp hi res photos and lots of other items for sale. These are the people who make extra income on ebay and they work hard for their 100% positive feedback - they want you to buy again. Since I got hooked on DE shaving last May, I bought, on ebay, a mint 1960 Fatboy, a 1930 Gillette New w/box in good shape, a 1966 Slim and a 1970 Super Adjustable. All my purchases were from people with 100% positive feedback, lots of prior sales, and a long list of other razors for sale, and 10 to 12 hi res photos.

No doubt that eBay is the Wild, Wild West. However, just as there are blurry photos of crap being represented as shinola, there are gems (not Gems) in the rough there, too. I got a Boker Pearl for $17 - blurry photo and all. It was in very good condition. I'm anal about taking the pins out and buffing up a razor to eliminate any chance of corrosion, etc - didn't have to do that with this one.
The very worst deal I made ended up being a refund - and the seller just told me to keep the razor. He had not described it correctly and he owned up to it - and he said he would on his advertisement so that is a +1 for those who say watch for this kind of guarantee. Good idea.
I bought a 7 day set that was not very good at all - but couldn't get a refund so I lived with it. I bought another one that was described as 'they don't make them liike this anymore' - and when I got it, the razors were all NOS with no hone marks. Simply perfect.
I guess I am saying that it is not easy to lump sellers into categories. That still makes eBay a gamble - perhaps more so.
Finally, B/S/T is not completely nice. Watch closely and you'll see bad deals come along often enough. However, they are usually easy to see if you do your homework.

Items may be sold as is, no returns accepted. Other sellers, who want return customers, will permit full refunds with return of item within 14 days. Since I'm cautious and only buy from someone I consider a good seller, I've never had to find out if ebay or paypal will back up their insurance promises.
I gave up trying to get a Fat Boy on flea bay. Prices went through the roof for a razor I couldn't really tell how good (or not) it was. Got a nice cased one off the BST. Paid more than I wanted too, but the razor I bought is far better looks and performance wise than anything I could afford on the bay. I would buy from a member on the BST vs flea bay any day of the week.
+1, I'd much rather give my money to someone who also enjoys the hobby.
I'm watching a gold 'New (Improved?) Tuckaway' ATM, its got a Canadian box, a US razor and a Tech head, quite a frankenset.
