What's new

Some lovely English history

A very cool read indeed. Thanks for sharing! I don't think that I have anything older than maybe 1890's yet. I keep looking though. One of these days I will find something!

Frederick Reynolds always used a "FR" for their blades which I assume stood for their name. There was no crown stamping so it had nothing to do with royalty timelines. I came across a royal stamped wade and butcher and they are a bit tough to find. I can attach some pics.

P.S. the first 3 in there date prior to 1890, the Engstrom is stamped 1873, the Joseph Elliot 1860s, and the Reynolds 1860s-1870s.

Second down from the top is the Frederick Reynolds showing the "FR" stamping.

Here is the Wade and Butcher "WR" Royal stamp circa 1830-1837 I aquired a month ago.

Thanks! That's what I figured it was after I made the post. I was kind of excited at first though.

Its ok, to be honest I stumbled on the Wade and Butcher Royal Stamp and at 25 bucks I paid for it, it was a steal. They are out there, just have to look for a while and be paitent.

I have a WR from 1830-1837. My next oldest is a Wade and Butcher marked “For Gentlemens Use” from circa 1850. Pretty neat stuff!
