Can anyone recommend a cologne that the scent will last longer than just a hour or so? Seems that most just fade away to nothing in a fairly short time.

Well, with nothing else to go on but a desire for longevity, I'd say Creed Bois du Portugal and Parfums de Nicolai New York. Very similar and very long-lasting (at least on me).
I have been trying out several frags the last two weeks and longevity is important to me too.Aqua Di Parma Assoluta has lasted the longest for me and it smells pretty damn good.I am price shopping now to find the lowest price.

There are a ton that last longer than an hour. A couple of questions:
- When you say cologne, do you literally mean "eau de Cologne" strength or are using the term "cologne" as a generic reference to any men's fragrance? The majority of what we discuss in here are technically "eau de toilette" strength fragrances, but cologne is the general term that is applied to all men's fragrances. But there are some men who have a preference for "Eau de Cologne" type frags, which often have a character that is somewhat distinct from eau de toilette and eau de parfums. That's why I ask.
- Can you site any samples of what you may have tried that didn't last well on you?
- Can you give any more direction on what type of scents you may like? Good mature-ish wet shaver kind of scents? Woody? Fresh? Barbershop? Youthful chasing babes kind of scents? Maybe reference a couple of you favorite scented shave creams/soaps.

Terre D'Hermes pure parfum version last all day wit one or two sprays. A great scent and the edt is just a notch below in longevity. L'occitaine Eau De Bavx is excellent as well.
