Soap suggestions?

I just got my finished ceramic shave bowl back from the kiln, and now I have to decide what to put in it. I already have bowls with MWF, an Omega croap, some col conk, and some vintage yardley.... I'm basically looking for suggestions... What say you learned latherers?

I say go local and support America's economy. All of the artisians soap makers that are widely promoted here like mama bears, Michael's, Queen Charlotte Soaps, etc. are all great soap makers. They make soaps that compete with all high end shave soaps. They are inexpensive and the customer service you get from them will be stellar. You can ask as many questions as you want. They have HUGEEE selections of scents so I recommend ordering maybe $15 of samples. They will last you for a while and you will be able to find out what you like without having to buy a whole puck. I can literally get enough lather for a 4 pass shave with 15 seconds of loading on my Mama Bear's puck. In my opinion, having at least one puck of artisan soap in your rotation is a must.

That is an option that I hadn't considered, awesome suggestion. I was very close to putting a poll up, but we'll see what pops up...

You won't regret it. I mean one sample is anymore from $1-$1.25. I ordered 3 samples of mikes 1 dollar for each sample plus $3 shipping. Probably could have fit more in the envelope. On a bad day, you should get 4-5 shaves from each sample.

I'm with neilyasno. I haven't tried Mama Bears, but Mike's Natural, Queen Charlotte and Mystic Waters are all great soaps from small companies with great customer service. You can't go wrong...

I know about Garry's sample shop, but are there other places that sell a variety?

Mama Bear's sells samples on her page. Just google it. As does Mikes and Queen Charlottes. The samples are on their websites.

I need to order some QCS too speaking of which :D

This is where the addiction hits lol, I'm definitely gonna get some samples.... But if you could suggest one soap, what would it be?

Well Mama Bears is glycerin based. So it lathers really easily and is a thick lather. However, the Mike's is tallow based so it provides a slicker lather. Hard to say, I feel that I'm more biased towards Mama Bears since it was my first one but now that I think about it, maybe I like Mike's more. They're all great. Just get a few from each vendor.
