What's new

soap suggestions

Hi guys I'm a newbie to the wetshaving world and wanted to know what soap rounds are the best quality and value. I'm bluecollar kind of guy and would love to hear what some of your favorite value soaps are. I have tried col conk and nana junes naturals (ebay) and can get decent shaves out of them but looking to expand horizons. Moreover I will be switching from DE to straight Saturday and would like to know if some soaps are better for straight vs. DE. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

fragrancex.com has Tabac soap in the glass bowl for $13.99. Use the coupon code "free" and get free shipping. Quick service, great price.

I'm excited to try Tabac and MWF one of these days--but my first dip into the world of tallowy goodness came from Prairie Creations--and it is my second soap, my first soap being the Col which I superlather with KMF Cream....

Prairie Creations was even easy for a newbie like me to lather up--and you can get a couple of pucks of your favorite yumminess shipped for under fifteen bucks.

Enjoy

Many thanks guys, Tabac and Poraso are on the list. I really value your responses. Thanks again.

I've just gotten in a sampler pack from The Gentlemen's Quarter. Good stuff for about $8/per. Great scents.

You can't really be blue collar without trying Williams. Some say it's tricky to lather or don't like the smell. It smells like a bar of Ivory to me, and lathers up just fine, but

There are several great small business vendors here, like SCS, Mama Bear and Prairie Creations. You should try their products. From what I've seen, the quality is great, and the prices are even better!

Prairie Creations Bay Rum was a big hit with me and with SWMBO, so if you are leaning more toward a small artisan maker, then Krissy can fix you up. Frankly, I think you need that, some Mama Bear's, Tabac, Speick, and Cella just so you can compare. But you have to start somewhere, right? :001_tongu

Thanks klop, I think I will follow your advice on getting tabac and proraso and some prairie creations. I tried some nana junes naturals (a lady on ebay) and liked it better than col conk, col is all I have to compare it to though. Thanks again.

lookin forward to trying new products!! whoohoo
