soap containers

hay everyone what do you store your soaps in i.e., metal tins or what ever i am trying to get good ideas or were to find stuff.

i am thinking about using a 2oz candle tin kinda like a pomade tin, any thoughts

This apparently is identical to the Pre de Provence tins. I use ramekins for several of my soaps. The dollar store is also a good place to look if you want inexpensive tupperware type containers.

I've used small tupperware/rubbermaid containers. I've seen people use the smallest size canisters (used for holding flour, sugar, coffee etc.) with great results as well.

I just got 4 of those those tins and plan to get a few more when I order again.

I keep some of my soaps in Tins like this. I Originally got them locally, but they stopped carrying them. Specialtybottle.com has them in many sizes and variety at reasonably cheap prices. The picture below is a puck of MWF, and it fits Nice and snug. Almost like it was made for it.

These other containers are pretty nifty too. The single one is a puck of TOBS soap, and it fits really well with just enough room left over to be able to load a brush. Most pucks of soap fit in tight enough so that they don't spin freely while trying to load your brush(I hate that ) Some soaps, such as L'occitane and AOS were a tad to big, but they can easily be trimmed down a little. These containers are awesome because you can stack them and they lock together. I got them locally at "The container store" They have a website, and you can see if they have a store near you. I highly recommend them for all types of great containers. These particular containers are called "Lock-ups". I like the look of the Tins better, but these take up less space, and the stacking thing is really convenient.

I'm a sucker for the OEM wood/aluminum/ceramic containers. To me, it makes them seem more "special", and it also helps me keep the SSAD a little more in check.

If I had an endless supply of money and space, every soap I own would be in an Old Spice mug. For some reason they've always been my favorite..

Eric, the rust doesn't bother you? I like those lock ups though, where did you find them?

It never really bothered me, mostly because it never got any worse than what you see, which actually looks much worse in the picture then it really is. I've had this particular one for about 9 months or so, and it developed that little bit of rust after a couple of weeks and it never got any worse. If I could do it over again, I would probably seal the inside with something. Maybe some clear polyurethane.

I got the Lock-ups here: http://www.containerstore.com/index.jhtml
I can't find them listed on their website, but I might just not be looking in the right place. They have several stores in Southern California though, and I highly recommend checking them out. They've got an endless supply of stuff that could be useful to our little hobby.

Yeah I would say the same thing i dont like the rust. I have mine milled into 6 oz ancor hocking glass containers.

I like the Anchor Hocking bowls too. I think my Tabac is in one. Unfortunately though, they tend to take up a lot of room once you start getting a lot of soaps. Thats the main reason I started most of mine from the tins and other containers into those other ones.

I haven't been to a Container store in years, long before I started wet shaving. Haven't thought about the place but could be interesting.

If I can draw your attention to the the 3rd photo. the book with the blue and yellow color scheme reminded me of a book I read, "Stick and Rudder: An explanation of the art of flying" by Wolfgang Langewiesche. (not that it helped me in the world of MSFS, but it was a great read. Read it twice.

Lock-Ups are fantastic! I just bought one for my D.R. Harris. Arlington. The Lock-Up leaves a little bit of wiggle room, so i have to dry off the puck after every use. My Penhaligons on the other hand, fit's **perfectly.**

Bought these at Wally World. 4 pack with lids, 8 bucks. Learned about them from this site and they are excellent. They hold plenty of product but take up little room. Mine came with red lids and are the one cup size.
