Looks like traditional Marseilles soap. Traditional French folk use it for everything from bathing to laundry to washing dishes etc.

It's a basic soap. It's been around for centuries. It's made from a specific formula from olive oil and other local French ingredients. The French government supposedly regulates it so that it's made a specific traditional way.

Beware though if you are sensitive to glycerin (like I am) that this stuff is loaded with it. Unless you can get your hands on the formula that has the glycerin stripped out (very rare and ususally relegated for laundry purposes though supposedly both formulas are used that way).

Otherwise most normal people could get on with it quite nicely. Very slick stuff.

I use it daily as a body soap.
I also use it once a week as a tooth pate, it also works as shampoo or for laundry too.
