From what I have read the Senator is the same as a Regent Tech, but if I don't have the original packaging how do I tell the difference? I just picked it up and haven't had a chance to clean it yet but mechanically it's good.

it gives different opinions about the Regent Tech. For me the Regent Tech is a 1941 solid guard bar Aristocrat and yours is the exclusive Senator.
For some reason I absolutley love the way the Senator looks! For me it is one of the most masculine looking razors. I haven't been able to find one yet. Please let us know how it shaves. Nice score!

I agree with it's aesthetic appeal, but have never liked the shave mine has given me. Not a fan of the open comb. Give me a superspeed any day.
Senator is about my favorite shaver. Aggressive, but forgiving. I like the striping the open tooth comb leaves on my face...
I love your signature, that is oh so true! She keeps asking, so are you going to grow your beard back anytime? By the way I have been using my Senator for about 2 weeks now, and loving it. Best DE shaves ever for me.
I gotta get me one of those. That razor looks great.

I am considering stripping it down (if at all possible) and re-plate it - but what would look good? Gold, Silver? Chromium?

Herb, I'm thinking of doing the same thing...most likely in nickel. I have seen a post where disassembly is not required for plate removal and replating.
