What's new

So they do crumble...

I picked up a handle in a shop for $5 and it had a crack in it I thought I could take care of it. Brought it home and gave a small (I swear to you!) experimental twist and this is what happened:

Literally fell apart in my hands and then fell into the garbage.

I got to learn how to identify solid filled handles from hollow handles filled with plaster. The fingernail tap-tap test ain't all that.

Well that sucks. Sometimes i'll pickup a brush that's fallen apart in sections and i know i can glue it back together. But i never buy brushes with cracks.

Any shave brush that I have I've purchased new from a dealer. That way if anything should happen to it, nothing has, it should be covered. :thumbup1:

That may be the best policy for a fairly common handle like this one was. I will resist in the future.

It cost me about $4. Any $4 brush out there that you can buy new ain't covered I bet!

I'm afraid you'd lose, if you bought it from one of the "big box" stores or drug chains. In spite of their paucity of wet shaving materials, they do stand behind their merchandise.

A member here sent me a cool little butterscotch brush to restore. It looked like it belonged on a Chess Board. A really unique brush that I have never seen.

I had almost the exact same thing as you happen. The brush ended up in pieces everywhere and their was no way to piece it back together.

I was pretty pissed off
