What's new

So my wife calls out "Oh My God, You're Gonna Love This!

I'm playing on the computer and mumble "...Wha? Just a minute..."

When I get into her study she's sitting there with a box of memorabilia from her Dad (godbless) and hands me a little leather case. He passed maybe 3 years ago and we've had this particular box since then. She claims she never opened it.

Never used a slant before. Think I'll cut my ear off with it or what? Anybody guess how old this thing is?

That is really nice. I love my Hoffritz slant, and I think you will love this one as well. Congratulations.

I think you are in for a treat with that shaver! I love my slant, it's the only safety I own, and the only substitute for my straights! The fact that it has sentiment to it only adds to the experience!

That is a gorgeous razor, Enjoy it!

What an incredible find...with razor and case both in pristine condition too, wow!

You need to go shave something with that...RIGHT NOW!

Gorgeous razor!
I don't really do anything different when using my 39C. I say just load a blade in it and give it a go.

That's gorgeous! A Hoffritz slant is my daily shaver, but it's not nearly in as nice shape.... My condolences about your father-in-law, though.

It's a 4 piece, and breaks down into a little travel case.

Any special tips for using a slant??

Tips Put the blade side to your face and stroke. Don't forget to say "Oh yea" during each stroke.

Nice piece of family legend to have.

Use it and enjoy it!

Beautiful razor. Keep us updated with what you decide to do with it, whether it be keep it in memory of him, or shave with it. If you decide the latter, let us know how it goes!

Sometimes the sun shines on you. Enjoy it.

I use a Merkur slant. Here are few a tips.

  • You should probably follow Mantic's advice on finding the right blade angle. Start with the cap against your skin and the blade not touching your skin. Roll the head downwards until you feel the blade touch your skin and begin your stroke. Shave as you normally would.
  • Before using the slant razor , I used to put a slant to the blade in my regular razor as a matter of course (Gillette slide). I'd wait a bit before you try that in a razor with a built in slant. Can be done though.
  • i got more than my share of nicks when I started using the slant, but that didn't last long.
  • Enjoy getting your sideburns even and straight! :001_smile Actually it's not that bad, just learn to focus on the blade, not the handle.

Good luck.
