What's new

So I have a few shaving soaps...

But only one container for them. I have a Colonel Conk dark beach wood bowl for my bay rum soap, but I want to try out the conk lime soap I have plus another one. I feel it would be over the top to just throw them all in their own mugs. Should I just leave them in their containers? (the edwin jagger soap I have comes wrapped in plastic) What do you gents do with all the soaps in your shave dens? Also, much thanks in advance for the wisdom about to be bestowed upon me.

Help me B&B forums, you're my only hope!

you know... I was gonna ask that today too. My wife got me three trumpers for christmas, and I've just been using the one this whole time...

also, I have it in this bowl, which I'm not sure wasn't originally meant for lather (It was kind of funny... I didn't mill it or anything and the original puck was too big and kind of hovered over the bowl. Eventually it got whittled down enough that it just fell in:D )

You could put them in mugs, bowls or any containers that will allow you to stack them or leave them next to another.

With a soap, I like to face lather. It makes it easier.

Ikea sells small containers with a lid. I'm sure you can find something around you that has a lid.

If the soap down fit, you could always use a cheese gratter to make them fit!

I went out to Bed Bath & Beyond and picked up a set of six or eight stainless steel "condiment bowls" from their kitchenware section. The set cost under $8, and with soap refills either melted, stuffed, or shaved into them they can stack up nicely inside the medicine chest.

I had a few extra which I used as a "peace offering" to my special lady friend, so she could kitchen them up in exchange for my grabbing additional bathroom real estate for shaving supplies.

I just keep my Col. Conk soaps in the plastic clam shell container that they come in. I also do that for Van Der Hagen soaps. It seems to me that they are both the same containers. For my other glycerin soaps that do not have a container, I use a porcelain ramekin that I bought from Pier1 for a dollar. I microwave the glycerin soap in that container. It doesn't have a top but works for me, plus they stack somewhat. And I keep a puck of William's in a separate mug, I didn't want to risk microwaving it because I was not sure if it is glycerin based. :c9:

I got a pack of 6 containers with lids for $2.89 at Target, in the baby section. I think they're called Take & Toss, they're about 3 1/4" in diameter, perfect for the larger soaps and the lid closes well. They are also very light weight.

For the smaller soaps I found some Rubbermaid TakeAlong containers, also with lids, but the soaps need to be forced in.

I think VDH or Surrey makes the Col Conk soaps, or something like that ...

Awesome, thank you so much for all the suggestions. I will definitely be trying a few of these. The stackability is a great factor as I can see myself obtaining quite a few soaps

fyi, I found myself in a target and saw what looked like great soap dishes, and they had lids. 4 or 5 in the pack. They just happened to be the same ones from this thread about milling soap. I did up my three spare pucks and the one I've been using for the last 10 months. They stacked up pretty well in my medicine cabinet, and I've got a fairly narrow cabinet.

The stackable containers are great for practical use, but to my eye nothing works as well for holding a few of your favorites as vintage shaving mug.

Now, convincing the manager of the property that they should be displayed is another matter.
