so I got the polo 8 super BUT - considering Tulip 3

I think it is not dense enough for me.
It can only hold lather enough for 1 to 1.5 shaves.

Now I think I have been spoiled by chubby 2 but I find that the brush is kind of floppy?

I understand this is predominantly for bowl and I think the handle may be a little too big for face lathering - but how would this stack up against Tulip 3?

I had a Polo 8 in super for a while. Found I did not use it enough to warrant keeping it so it belongs to someone else now.

I have a Tulip 2 and I found it softer than the Polo 8 but the handle is a nicer size (for me anyway). It is not going to be anything like your Chubby 2.

I would give my Tulup a D- or F in face lathering. It is a great bowl lathing brush with creams, about an A- when used that way.

Duke 2 is my favorite face lathering brush. Out of all the brushes I have owned this is the only one that I have kept as nothing else comes close in performance for face lathering (for me anyway). The Da Vinci 293 is a close second if you want a brush with taller loft but still stiff enough to work as a face lathering brush. The Chubby series didn't do it for me. Nice brushes but just not my cup of tea for face lathering.

Everyone is going to have a different opinion based on their own experience and expectations.

I have a Tulip 3 in 2-band that is really great for face lathering - 26.7x52mm bulb. I'm not typically a Simpsons fan these days, but this brush is pretty much irreplaceable for me. I cannot speak on behalf of a 3-band super though because I've never tried them.

What about the Rooney Heritage 2band XL or Stubby 3band?

No experience with a Polo 8 but I have a herd of over twenty brushes. Here are my top five. No accident the Tulip 3 is number one. Versatile size and the best handle ergonomics going. Bowl, face, hand lather, it matters not.

Thiers Issard 23X48 Desert Ironwood Super Badger,
