Smoothest pass ever!

I made one of the funniest errors this morning as I wrap up my first year of traditional shaving. As I was going through my third and final pass I was amazed at how smooth the Tech was performing, it was as if there was no blade at all. As it turns out there wasn't...

To better explain how I could make such a silly mistake I should probably tell the rest of the story (with apologies to Paul Harvey). Over the past three weeks I have been comparing three tech razors against one another. I have a fat-handled gold tech, a pre-war ball-end tech and a Brittish Tech. For today's shave I was using the British Tech for the final time, having already finished up testing with the fat-handle and pre-war Techs I had removed the blades and set them on the side of the sink for cleaning. Prior to making my final ATG pass I grabbed the pre-war Tech by mistake and proceeded to "shave" my both my cheeks. I was absolutely stunned by how smooth the pass was going, thinking immediately about how great the Tabac soap lathered up. As soon as I rinsed the lather off the head I realized my error and had a little chuckle. Luckily I had more then enough lather left in the brush to re-apply and proceed with a slightly more effective third pass using the British Tech. Other than my idiocy the shave went remarkably well giving a nice DFS without any irritation. What's your funny story of the day/week/month?

:blushing:

My dad tried my razor without a blade once... He then commented on how he's not surprised why I take so long shaving now.

Well, if you don't need to shave, but you do have a new brush that needs some break in, and you just got a nice new cream, and there's nothing on the TV...

Hilarious! I've pulled something like that in the past myself, but never admitted it to anyone out loud. Now if only our real shaves were that smooth!

Haha this is awesome. Never done that but thank you for sharing your story. Got a great laugh out of it. My "Really, did I just do that" moment is always locking myself out of the house cause I've got something on my mind and I walk out to the garage without my keys. I can't count how many credit cards I've had to replace because I used them to break into my own house.

I put the base plate in upside down once and had a similar experience. I also posted about it. We share our failures here.
