Smoked turkey taste

My wife just got a new electric, stand-alone oven on sale and she wants to use it for Thanksgiving.

I usually smoke a turkey but she is insistent so,

Is there a way we can flavor the bird to give it a smokey taste though it will be cooked in the electric ?

I know that there are products like Liquid Smoke, but I have never used them.

thanks

Yeah, I know Jim.

Actually, I have a smoker and it's everyones preferred way to cook a turkey, but SWMBO can be quite forceful.

Maybe I will try and overrule her.

My wife uses the product that you mentioned Liquid Smoke when we don't have time for a real BBQ and to my surprise it works very well and gives a nice smoky flavor. I was skeptical at first but it works very nice.

Put it in the smoker for a few hrs at 90 degs, than pop it in the oven,Do that with ducks and Pheasants all the time.

I would be concerned about food-borne illnesses if you left it that long.

Perhaps another option would be to get a separate turkey breast and smoke that, and then let the Mrs. do hers in the oven. Just be prepared to sleep in the doghouse when your turkey is better than hers!
