Smoke Rings

How does one blow a smoke ring? Are there other smoke tricks other than rings? I would love to hear from some of our brown leaf experts on this one. If you are so bold and can capture the moment I would love to see pictures of your smoke rings/tricks as well. Thanks!

It's VERY hard to describe in words. Your best bet is to find someone who does it well, spend a long time watching, and then try experimenting. Basically, you take the smoke in your mouth, open your mouth and stick your lips out while holding them in an O shape, put the tip of your tongue against your gum below the bottom of your lower front teeth, and in a single sharp motion snap your jaw partially closed while pushing the middle of your tongue forward, keeping the tip of your tongue in place. If you don't know anyone who can do it, try searching YouTube --- there are videos on how to do EVERYthing there! :001_smile

I came very close just using your description, and YouTube may be the way to go but I thought I'd try here first.

BTW, the slightest breeze, including air flowing from an HVAC system, can instantly shoot the whole thing to hell. :scared:

Good to know, I'm sitting next to a fan exhausting the air out and its probably not helping any.

After saying it was VERY hard to describe, you did an excellent job with your description!

I notice on my little Brog Chruchwarden that if I blow back into the pipe I'll 80% of the time get a smoke ring roll towards the sky... Very cool, but not what you were after I know :)

Six pounder Napoleon cannons, loaded with blanks, make awesome smoke rings.

01HDFXD's description is spot on.

Not smoke, but related.

This is what I've seen dive masters in Cozumel do to entertain their divers. I believe I was able to do one after several tries.

I've been smoking cigars for over 20 years and still can't make a smoke ring. I also can't whistle with my fingers, but that's another topic. LOL

You could always practice under water!
