Smelling One's Fragrance on Self

Is it normal for one to not be able to smell a cologne once its applied? When I apply mine, I can't smell it unless i delibiratly sniff the areas where I applied it (and the scent is faint at that). Is it possible that I just don't have the best nose? Part of the reason I buy fragrances is I want to smell myself smelling good. The ones I currently use are Paris Hilton for Men, Bulgari Aqua Marine, and Pinaud in a generous splashing since it lasts a while.
Thanks, and cheers!

Agree with above posters. I generally place a drop on my right wrist (I wear a wrist watch on my left) as a rough indicator of how much scent may be left. I wear scents in very small doses, and although I quickly lose the ability to smell it where I have applied it on my neck, I occasionally do a "test," smelling my wrist. (For some reason that really looks weird now that I have actually written it down).

I become acclimated quickly, so if I tried judging potency over time I'd end up drenched in EDT.
All things in moderation....

I've always figured that if I can smell it on myself, it's WAAAY too strong. I don't want to be the wears-way-too-much-cologne guy.

Yeah... you're a pervert. Sniffing your wrist in public.

You should be ashamed
