Small porcelain teapots

So, I am quite new to this whole tea thing. I ordered a starter set with a gaiwan from Steve that is still in the mail from the US.

Today I checked the local antique store for the usual and I asked her about chinese teapots. She brought out a few porcelain sets of the usual bigger sizes, one of them though was small I would say ~2dl. Here is a pic:

It had a "filter" on the inside like yixings have but was made of porcelain. What is the verdict? Are they any good when brewing pu erh?

Best regards

I doubt it,s ability to hold heat as well as a yixing but I,m sure it would work just fine, it,s really not any different from using a gaiwan. Well, it basically is a gaiwan with a spout and a handle. You decide.

It's cool looking, Unless it's super expensive, buy it and give it a try.

It's just $10, I will buy it next time I am there and try it out. I guess it could be fun to have something to use besides the gaiwan.

They seem to be quite common here in sweden, I have seen a few on the swedish ebay.

Porcelain is very hygienic and neutral. You should be able to use that for almost any tea.

I bought the teapot the other day and noticed it was made out of glazed clay. It works really well and the water remains hot during the infusion.

So far I have only used it for black teas but my pu erh from Steve should soon arrive.

A good, well made earthenware pot is a great way to go. I have a Brown Betty that is my favorite steeping pot for multiple cups(more than two).

Chatsford Earthenware teapots on clearance ATM at uptontea.com. I ordered two earlier today.

That's what I have (in yellow, too). I have a basket infuser for work and the pot for home....I wonder if I should get a spare pot. Thanks for the link.
