small cute and ugly strops - do you have them?

This little strop is in a box that's not much larger than a straight razor box,
and in similar style. The handle is extendable.

Unfortunately the backing to the leather is very uneven and the leather very thin
so I am thinking about removing both backing and leather and putting on just new leather.
Or would that be a disgrace to a quite vintage item?

I wouldn’t mess with it. It’s unusual, and probably worth keeping original as a collectible, IMO.

If you can refurbish it I would do that.
It is not usable as is. May as well be a doorstop.
Having a vintage item that is usable is much better even if some parts are replaced.
The design and function are what makes it cool.
