Small artisans and creams

This post stems from another post I answered. Why aren't small artisan shave creams widely available? If they are, please point me in their direction.

Is it the nature/science of the small batch soap making process? Preservatives? Cost of making vs. price they think they can charge?

I'd love to see the equivalent of a Stirling, Dr. Jon's, or PAA come out with creams similar to, and better than, Proraso, TOBS, Trumper, AOS, etc.

There are some creams available from artisans. I believe Catie's Bubbles have a luxury cream, Oleo (Sold through WCS branding), and a few batches of Declaration Grooming. However, from what I heard, it's a pain to make creams and it's much easier to make croaps & soaps. I don't really care for creams from artisans because their soaps do plenty good for me.

Captains Choice makes creams that are quite nice and compete with the performance of AOS creams.
