slim vs. fatboy

hey guys how would you compare the slim vs. fatboy ? the fatboy seems to get higher prices but I have heard that is from more collectors. As far as shaving and in general, how would you compare the two ?

A common question, but here is my 2 cents... I have both, and both are great razors. I think I like the Fat boy a bit better, it seems a bit heavier and as such seems to provide closer shaves at the same settings. I also like the shorter, thicker handle, both in feel and looks. The Slim's head does get in below the nose better, due to its "flatter" design. But whatever differences in shaving are so minor that I can easily see someone preferring either razor over the other.

Usually, the Fat boy carries a price premium, if that factors in your decision. Or, to make it an easier decision, do what I did... get both! :)

I prefer the look of my fatboy, and the weight, and the handle is easier to grab for my bigger hands. The slim is supposed to be better for the moustache and chin area...

I have a vandyke so I don't notice any difference from the head shape.

I have both and both are great shavers. I don't see any appreciable difference between the shaves I get from either. I like the "chunkier" look of the Fatboy a bit more but they're pretty much interchangeable for me.

When I first got my Fatboy I didn't like how it shaved. I preferred my Slim over it. Put the Fatboy away and didn't use it for awhile. Started using it again recently and I am a fan now. The Slim may have a slight edge, but only slight. Generally I have better results with all of my adjustables over a plain Super Speed.

I had better shaves from a Slim, but only marginally. Both are excellent razors. I think the Slim shaves a little better but I like the way the Fatboy looks better.

I have both and I think I like the Fatboy just a little bit better. Its just a tad heavier and I think that makes the shave just a little better/closer. They really are almost identical though.

Gotta agree with the majority here. I prefer the look and weight of the FatBoy but the Slim is easier to maneuver around tight spots. I get good results with either one so no real preference in use.

(never mind, I Googled it)

What is a "Vandyke"? I've not heard that mentioned before.

I've had several Fat Boys and Slims, with each providing a little different shave. I prefer the look, weight and feel of the Fat Boy but for me the Slim works better. I think it's because of the thinner profile head, hence my question.

Fatboy, Super Speed and a Slim and Old Type on the way.

I'm still testing out blades and I've been doing it in the FB at 4. So I'll come back to this in time lol.

I don't own a Fat Boy, But I do own a Slim. One of the things I don't understand is the number of comments about the longer and narrower barrel of the Slim vs the Fat Boy. My slim is the second shortest razor I own, after a Rocket HD. It is even shorter than my Schick Type Gs which are very short. Also, while the barrel may be slimmer than a Fat Boy, It is by no means really thin. My EJ DE87 and my Krona seem to have thinner barrels, and they are longer.

Ive got a slime, shaves really nice. I havnt got money to spend on a Fatboy, they seem to go for loads on ebay. Im hoping to pick one up in a second hand shop in the future if the razor gods permit. Other than that, the slim is a great shaver.

I have both and I LOVE both. The Slim might be a tad milder, though, say a setting of 6 on a Slim might equal a setting of 5 on a Fat Boy. YMMV of course.

On a rating scale of 100 I would rate them thus: Fat Boy 49 and Slim 51. Pretty close to 50/50.

I sold my Slim but kept both my Fatboy and long handled Super. The Super is actually my favorite adjustable.

I just realized that the tto gillette my sister-in-law gave me for (veterinary) services rendered is a fatboy! I'd used it a couple of times and thought it was okay but way too mild for my evolving (i.e., open comb) tastes. But today, a day off in which I can relax and not rush, I actually looked at the thing. It was adjustable, and set to 1! I dialed it up to 6, developed the usual terrific Tabac Tuesday face lather, and dyn-o-mite! Instant promotion to regular spot in the rotation. I think I need to give my sister-in-law another box of heartworm meds . . .

Fat boy was my favorite until someone suggested a black beauty super adjustable. Have a hard time putting that on down -just bought a second one.
