Slim serviceable?

Is a gillette slim repairable? I just picked one up and it has a little up and down slop on the tto handle. The doors don't close fully. Is it junk or is there Anything I can do to turn it into a shaver?

On the bright side, it was only one of four I found at an antique store for $10. Two techs and a red tip SS all in good condition were the other three so no big loss if it's junk.

Hard to say for certain if yours is repairable, but certainly worth a try! Check this thread for a trick on disassembly. Check the thread linked in that on the Fat Boy for an example of how they look inside (I am just guessing the Slim should be quite similar).

One note of caution not mentioned in that thread. Sockets are all different, you're looking for one with just the right wall thickness to rest fully on the crimp fitting but not contact the TTO knob or the center shaft (probably why the two posters near the end of the thread were having trouble).
