Last night’s luxury shave
RazoRock Super Slant Lvl 3
Loi Titanium (2)
Damp washcloth aka “shave binky”
Simpson Wee Scot 13mm badger brush
Pre-shave: hot shower
Lather: Captain’s Choice Unscented Soap, bowl-loaded/face-lathered
Aftershave: Ulm Nom
Post-shave: face wash with shave binky
Post-shave: Dimethicone/glycerin/water lotion

Figured I’d try an all ATG shave as the three pass shave seemed a little much. Steep/shallow/neutral are such minute gradations with this razor as to be meaningless. The rigidity of the blade and its exposure are quite a combination and easily outwitted me. Whether a higher or lower level of keenness is required eludes me, but I’m resigned to concluding the Loi Titanium is a banger in the RazoRock JAWS 0.84 and BBS, Fatip Grande, and Blackland Blackbird and I look forward to trying it in the RazoRock “German” 37 and Mamba 0.53.

That’s a long and cryptic way of saying “hee-hoo, razor go ‘owie!’” and bits of whiskers remained longer than desired and a few weepers occurred.

So maybe a Bic Chrome Platinum or Gillette Nacet next time.

Happy shaves, everyone!

Indubitably!
sounds like fun was had by all.

Pre-shave: hot shower
Lather: Wickhams 1912 Club Cola Soap, face-lathered
Aftershave: Ulm Nom
Post-shave: face wash with shave binky
Post-shave: Dimethicone/glycerin/water lotion

Decided to keep using the same blade and decided the soap would be the change instead of the razor or blade. Aside from part of next weekend, I’ll give this setup a go. Road the cap the entire time which was extremely easy with this design (slant version of a Henson?) and tried to maintain minimal pressure (not as easy - this is a very efficient puppy dog) and, well, the results were strange. A very close shave with an unacceptable amount of weepers, but not aftershave sting.

It’s like playing a game of chance. The winning result was so close, but just out of reach. It’s only three shaves, though, so maybe it’s attainable. It’ll be written here if I do.

Thank you both for your kind words, @desertcat and @lasta

Happy shaves, everyone!

Pre-shave: hot shower
Lather: Wickhams 1912 Club Cola Soap, face-lathered
Aftershave: Ulm Nom
Post-shave: face wash with shave binky
Post-shave: styptic pencil
Post-shave: Dimethicone/glycerin/water lotion
Post-shave: face-wash with Dove bath soap

Tried going lighter. After a brief illusion of competence, a few weepers surfaced on my upper lip and then I managed to press the blade into my left sideburn area. Styptic helped. Later, my skin felt raw until I washed off my homemade lotion. I’ll get back to this razor some time.

Happy shaves, everyone!

Pre-shave: hot shower
Lather: Wickhams 1912 Club Cola Soap, face-lathered
Aftershave: Ulm Nom
Post-shave: face wash with shave binky

It was a dud blade. It shaved. In the Overlander, it was smooth and comfortable, but wasn’t cutting cleanly. It was strange, but more relaxing than my Super Slant shaves.

Randomly grabbed a Gillette Silver Blue for the next shave. Only have a tuck of five, so it likely won’t become a thing. One of my original five tucks of Nacets left. Hopefully less duds in the hundred pack.

Started re-watching Legend of Korra. The problem with doing that is I’m now at the episode where Ikki runs away from Jinora and Meelo and has tea parties with baby sky bison. We’ve all been somewhere if not there.

Happy shaves, everyone!

Blade Biter
I'm sorry you are on a streak of bad shaves...

If you lived closer, I'd let you shave me, so you can get some blade on skin action without having to feel pain!

That’s better! Didn’t get some spots as close as desired, but comfort ruled the roost and I can get them next time.

Loi Titanium (1)
RazoRock Mamba 0.53
Bic Chrome Platinum (1)
Damp washcloth aka “shave binky”
AP ShaveCo Cashmere 30mm synthetic brush
Pre-shave: hot shower and a few minutes waterboarding
Lather: ARKO!, face-lathered
Aftershave: Ulm Nom
Post-shave: face wash with shave binky

My shower was groovy, my waterboarding was on point, my lather was fabulous, my touch was gossamer, my safety bar kept everything feeling smooth, and my expectations were high. A little skin stretching and light, light strokes yielded weepers on my right sideburn area and the right side of my neck was actually spared, but those weepers, though.

Got the Mamba and it was so much smoother, but the skin on the rest of my neck got razor burned a little.

Aftershave was gentle, though, so #Winning

Could’ve used the Overlander start to finish, but felt I could tame the Super Slant. Probably Monday is the day that happens.

Happy shaves, everyone!

Friday night’s totally decadent shave

Pre-shave: hot shower
Bic Metal (1)
Westin/Marriott soap hand-lathered
Post-shave the rest of the shower

Shower-shaved with a Bic-Metal disposable and a kind of close shave with no tangible/observable irritation.

Closer with tangible, but unobservable irritation.

Heading back from Anthro New England’s 2023 convention at the Westin Seaport in Boston.

Very lovely and bustling event and our family had a blast. Our Wee Babby was even in a parade (pics later — I took a 20 minute video and Wifey took snapshots). I felt like Harry Potter on his first day at Hogwart’s except all the wizards were dressed like mascots.

Redemption! I kind of suspected it and @Iridian flat out called it.* Bic Chrome Platinum on its mythically sharper second use. Also used some glycerin under the lather for extra protection. Went as neutral as possible (ridiculously easy with this razor) and as light as I could a la @GBerry and what a great shave!

No weepers for the first time with this razor. Aftershave sting on my right cheek, but no post-shave irritation. Not all the stubble was cut clean to the skin, but also none of the remaining stubble was curled back to be or resemble in-growns. Kind of like when I used to hover the MMOC over my whiskers and didn’t let the blade have more than a few shaves. Kind of reminds me I used to almost have everything down.

Happy shaves, everyone!

1. Try another blade. The usual answer. Feather, Nacet, BIC, something stainless and sharp. Slants like it sharp.

That looks amazing and she's obviously having a blast!

I took my niece to a "con" a few months ago and it was very simmilar. I felt like I was in a broken video game. :)

A little closer and two, small weepers. A little more stubble left on my chinny chin chin than desired. Changed the blade

Played with the snowblower in the morning and night. Less slush at night, but still too much for the engine, so I played with a shovel for a while. Off to play with a bucket of salt this morning.

That looks amazing and she's obviously having a blast!

Absolutely. Made new friends and did networking, too.

Definitely a surreal experience. Really awesome, though.

Post-shave: face wash with shave binky
Post-shave: Mentholated Equate moisturizer

Showered on lunch break. Shoveling on morning coffee break and lunch break necessitated it, so I just soaked my whiskers and added a tiny amount of castor oil to my skin before lathering.

Last night’s shave had good news and “It’s me. Hi! I’m the problem. It’s me” news.

The good news: the Permasharp Super feels nice in this razor. Maybe the loose tucks I bought dulled themselves or these are just not as sharp as desired, but it was comfy.

The me news: got complacent and got two teeny, tiny weepers on chin and neck.

Goes back to what I shared with Jayson74 about treating all the areas being shaved like an active minefield.

Happily, no curled back hairs and no sting from the aftershave or mentholated moisturizer. A sharper blade should make for a better result next time.

Happy shaves, everyone!

I thought my sinuses were mucked from playing with the shovel in the snow too much the other day (using an elliptical in a cold basement did it a few weeks or so back), but then I got an achy fever last night. Fearing carp, I swabbed my nostrils with a home pathogen test kit and I’m testing positive for COVID-19. Whee! At least I feel good enough to work today.

On to the shave. I didn’t interrupt the shower to scrub with soap. All the steam! Was hoping most would be in my airways and mebbe on my face, but I think most of the water vapor adhered to the bathroom mirror. Used my favorite and most comfy brush so I’d feel better and had a fresh Bic Chrome Platinum in the razor. Aside from a few weepers on my right upper lip and the smallest amount of curled back whiskers under my left jawline, it was a calm experience. Well, there was more random aftershave sting, but everything was cool and calm after my face wash.

Had to reschedule an appointment with a specialist for a few months (very depressing) and need to call my regular doctor to see if antiviral meds are right for me.

Have had two regular shots of Pfizer and one booster and currently have smell/taste, so those are good signs.

Happy shaves, everyone!
