Whether you call it “The Guillotine Stroke” because that’s what you read @Tallships call it or “The Gillette Slide (boogie oogie oogie)” because of some d00d from Boston, does it ever add the “smoov” to ATG-only shaving. And it does so whether you shave at design angle, surf the cap, or boop the comb.

I lathered up with my still suspiciously regarded Simpson’s Wee Scot and shave that was comfortable and quick and mostly close. Missed part on the left side of my throat, but touched it up with the residual slickness of the Col Conk Unscented.

Happy shaves, everyone!

The Wee Scot is starting to grow on me. It’s not dethroning anything, but it’s fun to use.

The shave itself revealed I wasn’t following the popping sensation and was “just okay” as a result.

Today is my last day of vacation and dreams of being back in work greeted me. As I’m not an itamae, they weren’t dreams of sushi like our main man, Jiro.

Happy shaves, everyone!

Refreshed the top of the soap with menthol crystals and loaded up the Wee Scot after my shower. Slight brrr. Chased the popping sensation while shaving steep and ATG. Seemed to do well on the neck, but the aftershave said my cheeks weren’t fans. With plans to be obsessive about keeping the lather refreshed next time, I was close enough for the win!

Happy shaves, everyone!

Lather: mentholated Col Conk Unscented, face-lathered
Aftershave: Ulm Nom
Post-shave: face wash with shave binky
Post-shave: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream

Used my softest brusherooni, a very wet (and frequently refreshed) lather, a shallow and skewed angle, and a touch that was lighter than usual while still too heavy. Angled like a guillotine on Bastille Day, my cleaned my neck and face in stop-action awesomeness. Only a lighter touch and more practice with a shallow angle could’ve improved the experience and result.

As a brush junky with a ludicrous amount of them, I find only the synthetics really let me make the lather I want. Of those, my best results are with the AP ShaveCo Cashmere and Silksmoke brushes and Ω ΞVO even though I like the AP ShaveCo G5A better than the Ω ΞVO. Weird.

Happy shaves, everyone!

Other than some weepers on the right side of my chin, this was a very smooth and relaxing shave. Guillotine stroke e’erywhere and a few, swoopy j-hooks where I couldn’t find the best angle on my own. Lathering is now the majority of my showering/shaving ritual and it is really enjoyable.

Tried loading a Kai Captain Titan Mild P!nk blade into a Sedef barber razor. Threw out a Kai Publius Cornelius Skippio P!nk blade that got damaged… Science!

Happy shaves, everyone!

On the previous excursion of bladed wonderment, I noticed everything felt quacktastic during and immediately afterwards only to become The Return to Scraped Face City hours later. I thought I may have carelessly blunted my razor blade and replaced it. After the blade was consigned to oblivion, @Cal read my whinging and suggested I had used too thick a lather. The blade was already gone, but posthumously exonerated.

I used to like shaving with a lather thickness of “slightly poisoned water” and can’t really remember why I stopped. Maybe to use up my bowl of Col Conk Unscented and move on to other stuff? The things I don’t know…

Went back to lightly poisoned water consistency lather and was able to chase that sensation of stubble popping as it’s cut. Happily had no weepers with a first-use Proline, either. Always a plus! Can’t wait until next time.

Happy shaves, everyone!

The Simpson Wee Scot roared to life tonight. In my reacquaintance with a “lightly poisoned water” lather, this brush felt scratchier.

A shallow ATG pass and a little touch up and I was close enough for the win! A little aftershave burn, but nothing major. Good stuff.

Made burgahs for both my Bride and also our Wee Babby’s pet rats:

The Maggards Tuxedo 30mm synthetic brush was my first “real” brush and it worked a treat tonight. A shallow ATG pass with just a little cleanup skidded over a very miserly lather for a close, comfortable result. To quote Luigi: “Oh yeah!”

Happy shaves, everyone!

Okay, maybe I could’ve used a little more soap this time. Gave myself three weepers on the right side of my neck. Overall, everything else went well.

Good to know. Not sure if this frog was named Pepe. It rejected an invitation to come inside for ice cream, so I didn’t ask its name.

@Esox , You listen to Cypress Hill’s “**** the Hammer” every night before bed, right?

As you’re aware, the first lyrics uttered are Senen “Sen Dog” Reyes announcing “I’m a chickenhawk huntin’ for a chicken.”

Early in our courtship, Mrs. Brogan heard that line, said I looked like a chicken, and attacked.
