I've got several DEs, both open and closed, tto and 3piece. I'm thinking that I want my next purchase to be a slant. Any suggestions? The best part of this site IMHO is the wealth of knowledge available, why not use it? I look forward to hearing your suggestions.

Hey Dan....I don't have a slant, but from what I can find....nobody has knocked the Merkur slant...37 or 39C. I have the 37C on it's way. I've only heard good things.

Thanks for the heads up, I have a merkur 180, and its my goto. I may have to stick with merkur for testing purposes. Then again, I haven't heard much about any other kind of slant...
Unless you want to go vintage, there are only two slants available. The Merkur 37C (short handle) and 39C (long handle). Both have the same head. If you want to go vintage, there are others but are not terribly easy to find.

I am the proud owner of a 39C (aka The sledgehammer). It is probably the most efficient razor I have used. It takes off the majority of a 4 day hair growth in one easy and smooth pass. It's mild and efficient. Slight learning curve but not as bad as other experiecnes. Don't let the bad reviews fool you. It is the best tool for difficult hair growth areas (chin, neck and jawline). For around $40 brand new you can't go wrong.
For me, I use a Polisilver SI or Kai blade and the combination has made major improvements in the quality of my shaves. No more neck irriation
