What's new

Slantember (Used to be September) Is For Slants! | Version 3 | 2020

Back to the 🦊 today, only went WTG to protect my still tender face. So smooth that razor, it is simply a wonderful little italian magician.

Arko from my replica civil war mug and the Green Blok and Nivea after.

I think I can do my normal 2 pass tomorrow.

The PBOCS is only for days I can go slow and very careful from now on.

Brush: Omega 11047 Mixed Midget
Soap: Fine Snake Bite
Razor: Fine Aluminum Slant
Blade: Gillette Blue (5)
ASL: Fine Snake Bite

Another fine shave!

This is beginning to look like an advertising campaign for Fine... but I assure you it isn't. I'm just enjoying their products, with the shiny Fine Slant Razor at the top of my list.

Happy shaves guys! :001_smile

Razor: Fatip Lo Storto Open Comb Slant
Blade: Nacet
Brush: WCS two tone Synthetic
Soap: Pre de Provence No. 63

First use of a Nacet blade in this razor, and it worked fantastic. Comfortable two pass no irritation BBS shave.

Slantember 25 - Gillette slantified Old Type / Gillette Platinum

I had such great slant shaves with the sTCOT while on coastal duty that I decided to test it against a box stock Thick Cap Old Type head. I had two roughly comparable St Petersburg blades in circulation, so off to the races.

Prep: more SOC break-in with Ogallala Bay Rum Lime & Peppercorn
Right side: sTCOT / 7 o'clock SharpEdge (3)
Left side: TCOT / Gillette Platinum (3)
Lather: La Toja stick, Semogue 1250, copper bowl
After: alum, Lucky Tiger, FloriLDrops badger blend

The contestants on contrasting fat Tech handles:

Given my tens of thousands of shaves with an Old Type, I of course had an excellent day at the races with this one. The sTCOT is a very similar shave, but today it kept tempting me to chase a right-side BBS to the finish. The consequences:
>edge to sTCOT on smoothness
>slight edge to sTCOT on closeness
>slight edge to TCOT on post-shave sting

Yes they are wonderful razors. I just gave my friend a Fatip Piccolo and he loves it. It's like giving someone a garden trowel to start digging their own rabbit hole. 😁

It's a riddle.

Barbasol in an aerosol can.
Simpson Duke 3 Manchurian.

Is there something very wrong here?
Or something very right?
My wife and I went on a three week tour of the US, West coast to East coast, for her birthday and visited Pasteur's in NY. The choice was so overwhelming that after an hour of browsing I left with just this can of Barbasol 🤣 - a very difficult item to get in the UK. I use it now and then as it brings back great memories of our trip. It lathers pretty well with a brush, smells good, and gives a decent shave. If you have your technique down it is possible to get a good shave with pretty much anything. 👍
