I enjoy the Slant razor designs...they are popular and very effective. Handle choices however have been somewhat limited. So...after getting my WWII era Merkur Slant in today's mail (complete with cracked handle which I knew about), I figured I would take it apart and see if any other handle would work.
I tried a bunch of them and here's what worked on the old time Merkur:
UFO Kaiser - Yes
iKon Bulldog - Yes
Edwin Jagger DE89L handle - Yes
Muhle R41 Grande handle - Yes
Parker 98R - Yes
Weber Classic - No
Tradere - No
iKon OSS - No
The WWII Merkur Slant disassembled

WWII Merkur Slant/UFO Kaiser with a Merkur Slant 39c
WWII Merkur Slant/iKon Bulldog with a Merkur Slant 39c
Seeing that the original handle was cracked anyway - I was happy to find out that there were other options that in all likelihood will provide an even better shave.
The very last picture below is the WWII era Merkur Slant with a Muhle R41 Grande handle.
