I finished today's shave with my alum block, Dickinson's witch hazel and GFT Sandalwood Skinfood.
I don't use skinfood everyday. My preferred ASB is Nivea although I'm also fond of T&H's Trafalgar and Pen's Endymion.

GFT Sandalwood Skin Food followed by German Pitralon, Italian Floid, or TOBS Sandalwood.
I use skinfood as a preshave before the second / last pass under my shaving cream, ATG.. then some cool water and a sandalwood splash from SCS and I'm set!
Finish Shaving
Warm Water Splash
Cold Water Splash
Alum Block
Let Alum sit whilst a clean up the area
Cold Water Splash
Apply Aftershave/Cologne
Apply Skin Food as last step

I use it as a pre-shave.
I've only had samples. But I find it works best as a ASB and use it after a aftershave splash.
Shave
Warm water rinse
Cold water rinse
Pat dry with towel
Squeeze out 2 drops of Skin Food into hand, rub together and apply to face.

That's interesting. If skinfood is a sealant, then why put on an AS splash after the skinfood?

Alum block,
Let dry while sorting brush, bowl, etc,
2 drops GFT (Rose or Limes) skin food,
2 Squirts of Arpege EDT.
Then off out into the world!

Was thinking about trying the coral skin food. I have the DR Harris AS milk. Is there really a big difference in AS and "skin food"

Apply dime size amount of Skin Food with wet hands onto face
I have found that this routine works best for me, i have oil/acne prone skin.. and this process seems to really kill and bacteria, seal the face, and keep it moustrized.

I don't know, I just do it. I like how it makes my skin feel. Plus I like putting a mentholated AS on last.
Does skinfood's scent disappear on you guys almost immediately too? I've only tried samples from Trumper's and both the coral and limes skinfood scents smells really strong in the bottle and on initial application, but the scent almost fades away immediately.

It does on me as well (GFT Sandalwood) which is good! I don't want anything clashing with whatever cologne I decide to wear that day.
Yes. It seems as soon as it hits my skin the scent is gone.

Use my hands to clear away excess water off of my face (good way to check your pours are closed by checking your face is cold)

Like most people have said here I use it as a pre-shave and mainly if its going to be a hard day. You can't feel it on your face during the day but when you take a late night shower you can feel it coming off, it is marvelous stuff.
I've also found skinfood doesn't particularly like a lot of water, I never understood people complaining about it being sticky only until I applied while my face was dripping with water, now i understand and just make sure my face is damp not dripping all over the place.

Oddly, I find that tends to accentuate the floral scents in creams and soaps I use. If I use it with Trumpers Violet or Rose, I can still smell it a good 10-12 hours after the shave YMMV.
