I've noticed that when I have a bad shave (nicks, razor irritation) my face (area shaved) feels much warmer than the rest of my face. Am I the only one that has noticed this? I rubbed an ice cub over the area for the first and that helped.
The head, especially the face, is rich in blood vessels. It's normal to feel an increase in temperature as blood rushes to the afflicted area due to blood vessels ruptoring. Then the skin becomes inflammatory to prevent further damage, in which the vessels become constricted to reduce the flow and prevent ongoing bleeding. Afterwards, this skin begins to heal itself with the all of its incumbent bodily processes. It all sounds serivous but remember that it's the body's way in reacting to injury. That's why a good shave is a irritation free shave and not a BBS one. They're not mutally exclusive, however, but it takes time and effort to get both.
