So we were at the local mall yesterday to check out a couple of sales, and we cut through Macy's at it connects two different wings and saves a little time. I slowed down a bit through the cologne and perfume section, and among all the various trendy stuff I saw a tester bottle of Shalimar. I was excited; it has such a good rep, and the reviews at Basenotes are very positive, so it's been on my "to try" list for some time.
It smelled gorgeous in the bottle, but after trying a tiny bit on my skin it quickly turned from "amazing" to "posh prune soda." Seriously- I smelled exactly like some sort of richly layered Dr. Pepper. DH was very nice about it, but after half an hour spent hoping for a miraculous change of scent I went and found a restroom and scrubbed it off. Stupid skin chemistry. #sighs# I was really looking forward to that one. Oh well, at least I found out before I cold-bought a sample.
