Six blades... it's here

From a press release I just recieved at work:

It's a product that offers shaving innovation and
a sharp contrast to any razor ever marketed-and it provides, not just one
unique aspect for shavers, but several that consumers will find intriguing.
The ShaveMate Titan6 for men and Diva6 for women are the first nationally
branded razors ever to include SIX precisely positioned in-line blades in
one razor head. The new six blade head is strategically designed to pivot
smoothly and effortlessly to keep the blades flat against the skin. Though
Diva and Titan lead the blade count at six, the advanced razor head is
surprisingly slimmer than other razor heads with less blades-allowing
consumers to shave even in hard-to-reach areas.

In addition to the unparalleled six blades, patented ShaveMate brand razors
are renowned for being the only razors on the market that come with
high-quality Real Shaving Cream INSIDE The Handle for easy dispensing. Users
simply press the bottom of the razor handle to dispense a stream of foamy
shaving cream. This unique All-in-One razor design prevents the need for
extra cans of shaving cream in showers or on crowded bathroom countertops.
The lanolin-enriched shave cream formula inside the handle is ample enough
for approximately 10 smooth shaves.

Inventor Brothers Team of Louis and Peter Tomassetti came up with ShaveMate,
"We believe Diva and Titan are the future of shaving," says Lou Tomassetti,
President of LPI Consumer Products, Inc. "The long evolution of razors and
shaving has brought us to the new Diva and Titan All-in-One razors. Diva and
Titan offer fundamental benefits over other razors. The six blades are for
super shaving performance and the shaving cream inside provides super
shaving convenience. We think Diva and Titan are the perfect razors for
everyone, and so far our customers seem to agree."

The ShaveMate razors also sport a patented "Flex-Neck" technology that
maintains even pressure for smoother strokes. It also comes with the
"Aqua-Flow Blade Rinse" feature that channels water through the blades for
easy cleaning. Additionally, the ShaveMate razors are equipped with a
moisturizing glide strip of soothing Allantoin for less irritation and more
comfort. Users find that the close positioning of the six blades, combined
with the premium shaving cream and flex neck technology, offer an
ultra-smooth shaving experience, with fewer nicks than other razors. Another
handy feature is the on/off setting for the dispensing valve to stop
accidental activation of the shaving cream. Diva and Titan razors are also
better for the environment because combining shaving cream inside the razors
means one less shaving item to discard. The ShaveMate 6-blade Diva & Titan
come in 3-packs and include a convenient shower hook.

Brand new for Summer 2009, the 3-pack sells for only $9.99. ShaveMate razors
are expected to be sold through Direct-to-Consumer sales and online stores,
and will be in retail stores in the coming months.

You know...I've been looking for a replacement to my out-dated DE razor.

Sure, five blades was intriguing, but I just didn't feel like five was enough. No, a real man needs at LEAST six blades to get a good shave.

Now I can finally ditch my cumbersome shave den and DEs for an all-in-one solution.

I did like the pic on their site with the chick in the bikini on her back with her legs up in the air  But yeah six blades, and I didn't see anything to indicate the "Real shaving cream" dispenser was refillable. Great so now we throw away the handle every ten shaves too? Seeing as to how reducing clutter appears to be the point of putting the cream in the handle.

This abomination was discussed here at some length a little while ago. Their claims about being better for the environment are particularly ridiculous.

If that's the future of shaving, I'll take the past.

Quite true, but they didn't need six blades to make us say that ... or five ... or four ... or three ... or two ...

... NONE of their* offerings hold a candle to the old ways.

* 'they' being all the purveyors of modern shaving crap-o-la, not just this one company

I'm waiting till all of the blades have super cool nick-names, describing their purposes.

They'd probably start naming them after the Justice League or something....

Blade 1 : the Intimidator (to scare the hairs into submission)

Blade 2: the rustler (to lightly wisk off the tips of the hairs)

Blade 3: Rip

Blade 4: Tear

Blade 5: Pull

Blade 6: removes what little skin/stubble is left.

Could always be worse, not much worse, but there could be this too :

Thanks for entertaining me  I was thinking they could name the blades after old Hanna Barbara cartoons.

This "news" comes up every few weeks.

As always, have a good laugh at this part:
Diva and Titan razors are also

Yeah, except for the fact that your razors are 100% disposable and run out of cream in about a week. So instead of throwing away a small cartridge per week and a can every six months, you will dump your entire clunky razor every week. I'm pretty sure 6 months of their razors is waaaaaaay more garbage than 1 can.
