Single vs. Multiple passes

Razor and growth determine the number of passes for me.

The minimum l'll do is 2 passes with my shavettes, r41 or futur and its usually one wtg and one atg.

With other razors I usually go with 3 passes.

I ussually shave 5 times a week.

Usually three pass with a clean-up. If I'm in a hurry, will skip the clean-up.

I have seen a video on You Tube by the Mad Scientist of Wet Shaving (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBY9kY-kChY).

While I haven't tried it, it's an intriguing idea.

Single pass 95% of the time for me

I also usually do 3 passes, preferring BBS everytime I shave. My beard is tough as and I typically don't get any irritation.

Single pass with touch up for the random hairs

I always do 2 passes. Seldom need touch ups after the second but do so as necessary.

3-4 passes for a ~BBS. My norm. I usually have no nics and skin feels AOK within a minute of the initial burn of the aftershave. I may have a little sensitivity on my skin (when touched), but no lingering irritation that I notice in general
