Hehe. I'm thinking along the same lines as you. I was really on the fence about a D2 purchase.

Got my D3 today, looks nice, shape, knot etc...but the handles unfortunately has a nice finger print smudge (either glue or during final polish procedure) that is raised, visible and driving me nuts.

got an inquiry into Simpson (as Jarrod @ Superior is on vacation) to see what happens now. i'm confident it will get resolved, it just means more waiting if it has to be exchanged .

Arghh.....wouldn't have been so disappoining, if it was the brush had been debating on and going back and forth on for months, only to pull the trigger and get a flawed handle
