Simpson Special (pure badger) for soaps?

I was wondering what anyone thought of the Simpson Special in pure badger for use with soaps and face lathering?

Is the bristle head pretty firm? a little scritchy?

This was the first Simpson's I ever got. It is a fine small travel brush, I found it could work with soap in a pinch but it is too small to really be a grinder. I thought the knot was way too small for good face lathering.

After I broke it in I found myself liking it a bit better with creams than soaps. With soaps it doesn't have quite the backbone, and if you try to get at the soap too much you will lose bristles. It can also be a bit of a lather hog, so I don't know that I'd recommend it for face lathering.

I have use the Special and have had no real problem bowl lathering Tabac, TOBS Lavender and Pre de Provence. You do have to go back and recharge the brush but this is not much trouble. I have not face lathered.
